Yes, same for me. But CCC is definitely a fine choice too.I haven't tried CCC, but I use and like SuperDuper for it's simplicity, so I ended up buying it to get the smart update feature. It's also bootable so that's nice.
Thanks for the explanation. SuperDuper! also makes backups that are bootable, and that is a definite plus.Used to use Time Machine when my wi-fi network was based on Apple hardware. Once Apple got out of the wireless business, moved on to Ubiquiti and never looked back. Tried using Time Machine to locally attached USB and thunderbolt disks, but got tired of Time Machine reporting errors every now and then (around every month or so). Moved to CCC and never got a single error since. Additionally, my backups are now bootable, which I consider a big +.
Bingo. One backup is not enough for something you really care about. I use a Time Machine drive for onsite and automated BackBlaze backups for offsite.Time Machine full time, then a CCC clone once a week or so, and online backups of my home folder to BackBlaze B2 servers using Arq app.
Same with SuperDuper!.Don’t mess about.
CCC
Stay safe
Heard the same thing on another Mac discussion site. Same is true with SuperDuper!. Dave Nanian is definitely responsive.I have been using Carbon Copy Cloner for several years and have been very happy with the app and Developer.
Interesting choice - can you explain why you do not use one of the products for all your backups? Looking to see what I might have missed here with my own use of SuperDuper for all drivesCCC for bootable backup of my iMac.
SuperDuper for backups of archives external drive.
It's just voodoo/superstition. I've used CCC for bootable backups for years and years and years (even got a free educational version back in the day IIRC) and I just don't want to ever do anything else.Interesting choice - can you explain why you do not use one of the products for all your backups?
