What do you folks think of Brave? Been giving that a tryout lately.
Brave is chromium based so it's like chrome, opera, vivaldi, etc however it has some really good features like built in add blocker but others are still in beta like syncing.

For me the best is still Firefox.

I use Brave on my Fire HD 10, but in general I find it to be nearly as resource heavy as Chrome itself. Of all the Chromium-based browsers that support extensions I've tried, Vivaldi seems to be the lightest.

What has your experience been with Firefox and resource usage?

To be honest I find Firefox much better on Mac than it used to be. On windows it has been my main browser since Quantum release but I always found it much more resource heavy than Safari however in the latest version I find it much better resource wise.
I have compared both, safari and firefox with the same workload and safari is still slightly better in terms of CPU and energy, but maybe this is because I dont have same extensions in both as safari extensions are much more reduced than chrome or firefox.

So in conclusion I use firefox when I'm plugged in and safari whn i'm on battery. You should try it.
Mac version is much better than it used to be and miles away from chrome. Also Firefox sync capabilities are great, if you have a firefox acc (it's free)
