Just taken delivery of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid crystal clear case. Seems a step up from all previous clear cases. We’ll see how it wears…

I picked up the black/grey one. A little btit disappointed about wet effect for the bumper and for the strength of magsafe: Valentine wallet seems stronger with the naked phone then with ultra hybrid 😅

Hello, bought this case from eBay for my iPhone 14Pro, but the seal on the box was not as I expected. When I tried to remove the seal was not splitting in half like I’ve seen on other Apple products, but was peeling off completely. The case looks good so I’m not sure if it’s fake or not! If it’s fake how big would be the difference in quality?

one way to identify is probably. when you snap it on. a magsafe animation should appear on your iphone screen.

Looks real to me

SN on case matches box , box sticker looks real and so does the general shape and quality of the case

So what was the point of them messing with the seal? Is clear the seal shouldn’t open like that, and was coming off so easily…

lol I wouldn’t have the slightest idea

Just a hunch - it’s an open box item and someone had remorse while pawning it off as “new”

Genuine.

'A2916' on the label goes into Google as a 14 Pro clear case.

Usually it'll be a silicone case number on the label if fake

Having lived with the clear case for a while, I am not so impressed with the extent to which it shows finger prints and other marks. It could be a function of the phone's colour - Midnight. Mrs K has the same case on her 15 Pro in natural titanium and that appears 'cleaner' most of the time (and she doesn't nanny her phones like I do!).

So I’ve been caseless for over a year now, and I usually end up caseless even though I buy cases lol. Anyway I had an Apple leather case in Ink for my purple 14 Pro, but the leather finally gave out so I threw it out and have been caseless since.

FF to Monday.

Now, I’m at home for the months of June and July recovering from rotator cuff surgery on my dominant arm. My hubby kept saying “you should get a case and screen protector for when you’re one arming it with your non dominant hand for the next few months”. I scoffed. So Monday, I was on the raised deck and took my phone out of my back pocket and when I attempted to flip it to proper orientation I LAUNCHED it off the deck, down about 6 feet to the cement driveway, where it hit, bounced and slid. Impressively it had hunks out of the stainless steel, some scratches (not overly terrible ones actually) on the screen (no cracks and it didn’t break), but the back glass shattered in the bottom corner. Luckily AppleCare overnighted an express replacement to me, but yeah, I ordered a case and screen protector on the replacement pretty darn quick.

Here’s where I get to the case…

I love Apple leather cases for the minimal feel but they aren’t an option anymore. I am not a fan of Apple silicone and I had an Apple Clear that cracked in both bottom corners when I put it on and so I returned it. I have had some of the thinner Spigen cases (clear glitter and a Cyrill one with flowers on it) and I loved them but they yellowed pretty quick. I decided to go back to one of my all time favourites- a Speck Candyshell Pro.

Is anyone else disappointed they got rid of the glossy finish for the soft touch? I found a whole whack of my old one for my iPhone 5 and 4 and loved the gloss shell. Sure they got scratched up a bit but I didn’t care, it made the colours pop. I LIKE the Candyshell but I’m disappointed they used soft touch on it because the colour is muted.

Sigh.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Agreed on the new candyshell cases not being as good. It's not so much the lack of color pop, but when I tried the case, the matte finish started to peel off within a matter of days under normal use.

I’m going to order the Spigen Crystal Glitter as well to keep on hand - it’s only like $13 on Amazon so not a huge hit. That’s disappointing about it potentially peeling. I got the storm grey/spring lilac one because they don’t make the pink shell with grey silicone option anymore and I hate them for discontinuing it. lol.

I went down a rabbit hole trying to find one of my old Speck cases. Why don’t they make them like this anymore? I LOVED this case - it was a Speck collaboration with Burton and was fabric - but CLEANABLE with a toothbrush and soap. This case was awesome. I had this specific pattern pictured but they had so many patterns and colours…

This one. and so happy because whenever I'm traveling or need to watch something it has a robust stand both portrait and landscape mode.

Slightly less quality than the apple silicon case but supports magnet and works when needed.
