MagBak case in gray. Very soft feeling silicone, but the 'shiny' type rather than 'sticky' type like Apple's silicone case.

Excellent buttons, good fit, comfy to rest on the pinky. Slightly oddly the corners of the case are slightly more squared than the phone's corners, not really an issue but an interesting design choice. As you'd expect from the name, magnets are super strong.

For those that like customising too - MagBak sell button kits, I've attached a screen grab.
That black with yellow buttons looks pretttty 🔥

Looks like I have some cases to decide between
Apple Silicone - Winter Blue
Nomad Leather - Black
Nomad Sport Case - Coastal Rock
Mous Limitless 5.0 - Forest Green

That winter blue was hard to pass up with the black Friday prices on Amazon, but still prefer the Nomad sport case for the better buttons and better MagSafe

But she's a looker. Do both.

I think that's what I'm leaning towards. Such a beautiful color

I bought a Spigen Style Armor last week and returned that and slipped back in the Gray Sheath for a day to end up back in my Winter Blue Silicone. Haven’t taken it off (got it on Black Friday prices on Amazon)

Oh she's a looker for sure! Don't tempt me to get both because I probably will 😅

I don't know what it is, but I always find myself going back to the Apple silicone even though I can't stand the dust/lint it collects. I think it's the fact that it's a super thin/grippy case, that makes me look past the one negative thing about the case. I love my Cypress and Clay, although the Clay is pretty boring. Side note; Have you bought anything that's "Used - Like new" off Amazon? I can buy it new for $49 or I can get it used - like new for $37. It says it looks and functions as if it were new, it's just the packaging that shows minimal signs of wear, but even that makes me hesitant.

Are you sure that's not the Aspen and just stamped it? : )
It does look and feel very similar yeah, ive had both though and this feels a tad thinner. Leather quality is superb also.

The aspen I had also had wonky buttons

Just got the Grip Monkey in the blue on the green!

The color isn’t what I thought the color would be but in a good way. I would say it’s a blueish greenish AKA blue on the green.

First impressions. Similar to the Synthesis but so far better. The TPU makes it feel more comfortable in the hand and lighter. Buttons are way more tactile. The grip on the sides I would say as good as or maybe a little better than the Synthesis but in a different way than the matrix grips. I like that the grip on the Monkey is textured and the indentation of the grip isn’t obtuse.

For $16 you can’t beat it even a little bit when comparing to the Synthesis.

I’ll keep you posted as I run it hard.

Edit, Synthesis is going back. The Monkey is replacing it.

I finally have a black tie one coming on Sunday.

Synthesis 40g
Mag Armor 38g
Monkey 38g

Pretty close in weight right? You would think that since the Monkey appears and “feels” bulkier than the Mag, it would be much heavier but it isn’t.

Don’t have any calipers but the Monkey and the Mag feel the same dimensions.

Why I think the Mag “feels” lighter is because the Mag is built more to the aesthetics of the iPhone vs being a boxy build.

Since the Monkey feels bulkier and beefier than the Mag, is it an “allusion” that the Monkey is more protective than the Mag?

Where the hell are the Phone Rebel natural titanium component kits at?

2024 is right around the corner.

Was talking with someone today about cases and Spigen came up. He asked me “what’s up with Spigen’s pricing model, this is “sh*tter cases written all over it.

Seems like Spigen always runs 50% their retail off on Amazon all year.

What’s the long term quality on Spigen since it was perceived by someone as “sh*tter cases” based on their pricing model.

For instance my favorite case the Mag Armor is about $20 on Amazon which is almost always 50’ish% off their MSRP.

As an example is the Mag Armor really a $45 case of good quality or is it really a “sh*tter case” for a real price of $20?

I don’t find that too much crud gets into the slits of the Synthesis. At work I use air blower from the auto shop to give it a nice blow out daily. What did you do in previous iPhone versions when most of the cases didn’t cover the sleep slider?

On another note I’m running the Synthesis since yesterday because I want to get a good feel to compare the Gripmunk when it arrives today.

I talked about the Synthesis buttons recently. It’s really the action button that sucks. The power button is tactile but could be better , the volume buttons work when you press but don’t get that satisfying tactile-itity like the power button.
I do construction in a really dirty environment so it really collects everything. With the sleep button it was easy to clean out with a small brush if I needed to because it was open, I actually ended up making a cover for the hole with duck tape on both sides though to keep it clean.

This one actually gets so much crud that I have to soak the case and wash the phone down with wet wipes all the time.

I used to work in a dirty position at same job and and if I was still in the dirty job I wouldn’t be using cases with slits on the job. I had a protective case for work like an Otterbox and a Magpul weekend case or after work case.
