I wanted to use the case for a few days before I make a post about it, but I've been using a Bandwerk Performance chocolate colorway case since Monday evening.

I personally really like it. It's not perfect, I'll get into that, but it feels different enough from everything other case I have that it'll go into regular rotation. It reminds me a lot of Nomad's Sport case but more squared/boxy shape with a leather back.

The Good:
- A high quality feel. It should be for the cost but it feels justified enough compared to a Mous (which I think is hugely overpriced)
- Soft, smooth, velvety feeling leather. It doesn't smell much like leather and will likely not patina because it's water resistant.
- Fantastic metal buttons. Super clicky. The concave sides make it feel like they stick out further than they do.
- The TPU isn't initially very grippy but with use over a couple of days is feeing better. The concave sides with subtle pattern add something to hold on to. Same goes for the leather. With more use the grip and velvety feeling improves. If you're someone who finds the Sheath or Nomad Sport slippery you are going to find this case to feel slippery.
- MagSafe is good enough. I have not personally noticed any visible MagSafe ring after charging overnight.
- Great pinky comfort
- Soft felt lining, the metal buttons are covered with fabric, and the metal camera ring is very smooth with rounded corners.
- Very easy to take on and off
- Roughly 1-2mm of lay on table protection and 3+mm of camera protection
- It feels quite boxy in my hands. The edges are rounded off so none of them feel sharp. The boxiness however does make it feel like nothing else I have. I like all of my cases to feel noticeably different from one another.

The Bad to just OK
- It is expensive. I had a $10 off coupon which brought the price down but it's still a premium priced case from a premium brand.
- The metal camera protection will scratch and show wear. I have a small mark where the paint came off when I slid it across my kitchen counter. It doesn't bother me but that happens with pretty much every metal camera ring that is painted instead of anodized or powder coated.
- My 15P version weights 44g. This is not a negative for me but that will be too heavy for some. I'll mark this as a bad for people who find any case over 40g to feel like a brick.
- The pattern molded into the concave side grips is very subtle. I was expecting it to be more pronounced. It's just enough to be felt. This can also go in the good section for me though because it's subtle enough to add a little bit of grip but not feel terrible in my hands like the side grips on the Synthesis do.
- The TPU can pull away from the phone. It's not a super tight fitting case but it's not anywhere near loose enough to pop off in a drop. The case does not make any claims of drop protection and feels no less or more protective and a Nomad Sport or any other similar TPU+Polycarb case.

Here are some admittedly mediocre pictures. Any marks on the back or camera are from me. The case was perfect when it arrived.

For anyone interested, Moment have revised their case to have an action button, received mine from them a few weeks ago - they sent it free as I'd bought one with the cutout.

This is absolutely excellenet, I have zero complaints. Buttons all superb, feel is good, doesn't hurt pinky. I also love how the lip at the bottom very slightly dips making swiping up feel great. It has MagSafe but I don't use it, so can't comment on it.

I've tried a LOT of cases this year, and right now this feels like my pick of the lot. This is the 'Indigo' colour on my 15 Pro. I'd describe the colour in person as blue rather than indigo, but either way I like it.

Does this iteration still have the big Nomad-style cutouts?

Thank you so much for that review :)
Is the case trackable here in the US once they actually ship it?
I'm going to order the shocking orange version soon.

Yeah it does, totally respect that they bother some, but it’s something that genuinely never occurs to me personally. When I actually look at them, I kinda like the symmetry that they’re even. But if it bothers someone else that’s fair.

Update on the Ghost case replacement saga. In my opinion they are handling this issue very well. I feel that they care about their product and client!

:)

____________________________________________________________________________________

Hey Human,

We’re reaching out today to provide an update on your Ghost Case replacement.
Last time we spoke, we made you the following promise:
"As soon as our revised Ghost is ready - one that features both zero-yellowing and increased scratch resistance, we’ll send it to you for free.

In fact, since we want everyone to have the best possible version of the Ghost Case, we're sending it to everyone who owns a Ghost - no matter if their case arrived pristine or scuffed, whether they’re satisfied or dissatisfied with its scratch resistance. Everyone is getting the improved Ghost. For free."

Before you get nervous - don’t worry, nothing has changed about that commitment.
Since we last reached out, our team has been hard at work on a novel anti-scratch coating that significantly improves the scratch resistance of the Ghost Case without introducing the risk of yellowing under UV exposure.
To give you an idea of what "significantly improves the scratch resistance" means, here's what one of our original, launch day Ghost Cases looks like today:
As you can see, there are many scratches.
Here's one of our anti-scratch coated Ghost Case samples after two months of use:
As you can see, there are no scratches.
As you can imagine, after developing a zero-yellowing anti-scratch solution that was the first of its kind, we were quite excited to pull the trigger on mass production.

Last week, our first mass-produced stock cleared the production lines. During quality control inspections, we immediately knew that something was different between the short run of “process validation” samples we'd approved for mass production and what was actually coming off the tools.

A significant portion of the units we inspected were showing signs of coating buildup and inconsistencies.
Here's an example of the coating buildup and inconsistencies mentioned above.
Here's an example of the coating buildup and inconsistencies mentioned above.
All told, about 75% of the mass production stock we’ve made so far is unshippable. Since discovering this issue, our materials and production teams have been working around the clock to engineer a solution to these defects. Despite best efforts, this novel anti-scratch coating simply isn't viable at scale in a mass production environment.
As a result, we have no choice but to discontinue the Ghost Case.

…which isn't actually that big of a deal, since our industrial designers have been developing Ghost 2.0 since last November.

The anti-scratch coating that we've been working on has always been a band-aid solution to the inescapable, fundamental problem with plastic: it scratches. Even a coated plastic will scratch, given enough determination and exposure.

While the obvious solution to this problem has always been "just don’t use plastic," substituting materials isn’t possible within the constraints of our existing design and production tools. Fortunately, this transition to Ghost 2.0 gives us the freedom to solve this problem from the ground up, no band-aids required.
Moreover, this rebuild of Ghost 2.0 will allow us to implement significantly more of the user feedback we received from the initial Ghost Case rollout. With the old "anti-scratch coating" approach, we were trying to get as much mileage as possible out of our existing set of production tools, which limited the number of modifications we were able to make.

With Ghost 2.0, since we've already committed to spending a boatload of money on new production tools, we're able to do whatever we want with them. That means we can truly account for all of the feedback we received from Ghost 1.0 owners like yourself.

As a result of the four month head start we've had on development, we plan to be ready with Ghost 2.0 this summer. As promised, we'll get you a replacement case, for free, the moment it’s ready.
Once we have more details to share about Ghost 2.0, we'll follow up with another email. Of course, we'll also give you an opportunity to update your address or device selection ahead of the re-shipment.
As always, we appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you a zero-compromises Ghost Case 2.0.
P.S. - this email is going out to hundreds of thousands of Ghost customers. If you have an urgent question or need support that isn’t answered by information in this email, please feel free to reach out. Otherwise, we'd appreciate it if you left us on "read".
