iPhone 6 with 16GB
When I see people complain about Apple’s current base models, I always just think to myself… These people definitely don’t remember when Apple kept 16GB as the default for their flagships… for seven generations in a row!
Or that they were still offering 8 GB previous generation iPhones… in 2015!
Tbh the fact that the iPhone comes with 128 GB of storage by default now for the flagship was an absolute shock to me.
I expected them to keep everything at 64 GB for at least another three years longer than they did.

The 2 Blackberries I had before my 4S had even less than 16GB of memory. I remember my first Curve I had was always running out of memory.

I waited until the White iPhone 4 came out (remember that debacle?), and upgraded from my 3GS. It was a tiny upgrade and I should have waited.

That and the iPad 3 I also bought too early were the last devices I owned with 30 pin connectors and I think I justified it to myself for quite a while by saying that I’d spent so much money on 30 pin cables and accessories, after all.

5S I think was the one with the weird silent switch that would somwhow switch off silent in my pocket.

For any phone ever, Samsung Mythic 🤮 Got it because it didn't need a $45 data plan and was BOGOF.
They were so unresponsive, they got returned promptly.

For iPhone I would say my 13 due to the flat sides of the phone.

For Android I would say the Nexus 5 I guess. It had its share of things I didn’t like, mainly small 5” screen, poor battery, and poor speakers. Then again I think it was only $350USD so I guess I can’t complain too much. At the time I wish I had gotten an LG G2 instead.

My favorite phone of all time was the LG G3. If it had a better SOC (I think it had the SD802) it would have been perfect. My favorite iPhone was either the 6S Plus or 11.

What’s wrong with iPhone 7? I had a iPhone 7 Plus and my wife had 7 for five years. I got battery replaced under the $29 replacement program twice. I upgraded to 13 Pm and love it too.

I didn't actually regret my iPhone 8 purchase and loved the gold color, but when the X came out and I realized how much better the larger screen was for me, I purchased the X.

iPhone 13 Pro. I was shocked at how heavy that phone was. I thought I'd get used to it, and to how its size in the hand seemed just a bit too wide, but I didn't. I sold it off after six months. First and only time I've done that. I replaced it with a 13 Mini, which I expect to keep for as long as possible given Apple's preference for thick and heavy phones.

iPhone Xs is the one I regret. I had a X, got a Xs Max because I thought I wanted a bigger screen. I would have just returned it but I had already sold my X so I returned it and got a Xs.

Came to regret the 5s in a way in the end, as I would have LOVED the Rose Gold SE but just couldn’t justify the money for what was essentially the same phone. That being said, I doubt my iPhone 4 would have lasted until 2016 (the home button was intermittent.)

14 Pro, because when I realized it was too heavy and wanted to go back to my 13 mini, I needed a new SIM. Don’t want to go to an eSIM only world for awhile.

iPhone 5

What a horrible feeling phone, and such a let down after the 4. It was sufficiently capable that I kept it until the X, which only made things worse. It just felt like a toy.

The 8, I thought it would be a big upgrade from my 6s, but ultimately I felt like I had bought the same phone again. After buying it and selling my 6s I found myself wishing I'd saved my money and hung onto my 6s for one more year.

Probably the 7. I only upgraded because AT&T had the trade in deal so I got it for free, but it was so lackluster to me. I should have held onto the 6 and upgraded to X instead. Oh well.

Actually, I feel like I lucked-out getting the iPhone 13 mini to replace the similarly-sized iPhone SE (1st generation). I was amazed how much more screen Apple packaged into a device that was the same size as my last one. Unfortunately, Apple discontinued the mini after 13. If Apple brings back a mini iPhone several years from now, that may be the next one I switch to.

Iphone 8 Plus was the biggest regret for me as it was short lived when the X came out.
Both use A11 chipset so they should still get the latest iOS release until the A12 chipset becomes the minimum requirement... In terms of looks and the display, yes the iPhone 8 series became out of date a few months later when the iPhone X was released...
