I guess I skipped most of them.

I was happy with my flip phone. My wife wanted me to get an iphone, so we got a 6s. I hated it, so I took her 5s and she got the 6s. Now I have an SE. I'll probably go back to a flip phone if Apple doesn't make another small phone.

I can't vote in your poll because it doesn't fit with what phones I skipped.

I bought:
Original iPhone
3G, 3GS
4S
5S, skipped the 5
6+, 6S, 6S+
SE
7+
8+
Skipped the X and this years phones.

I had a 5, 5s, bought and sold a 6 after a month using it because it was a turd and my 5s performed just as well if not better, got a 6s which I loved and still have as a backup, skipped the 7, skipped the 8 and have had an X since December which I love..

I kept my 7 Plus and skipped the 8 Plus and the X because I knew they were bound to make a better and larger X the following year, and sure enough they did! Love my XS Max!

This...

I started with the IPhone 4 and upgraded to the 5, then the 6 then the 7 +.

I didn’t see the point of getting the 8+ and simply didn’t like the way the X felt in my hand after having a “+” IPhone.

That said, I am absolutely loving my XS Max.

You didn’t really skip any generation other than the X.

The 2G because it was not available in Europe;
The 5/5S/5C/SE because I did not like the form factor;
The 6S/6S+/7/7+/8/8+ because they were too similar to the 6 I used to have.

Skipped the 2G, 3G series because I preferred my Nokia E63.
Skipped the 5 series because I was still happy with my 4s.
Skipped the 7, 8 series because I was still happy with my 6s.
Skipped the SE because it was just a smaller 6s.

The iPhones I did own: 4s, 6, 6s and X

That's ok. I'm interested in which series people skipped as opposed to specific models.

So you'd be an X-skipper, despite trying every generation before it. Very interesting.

I skipped the first one, 5S, 6S/SE, 7 and 8. Main reason was money but another reason is that my 6 Plus worked perfectly fine and I didn't feel the need to upgrade. Using a X now and will probably keep it for a long time.

You skipped a few, not just the first one.

iPhones I’ve owned:
iPhone 4s
iPhone 6
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone XS

So, since first getting an iPhone, the only generation I skipped was the 5-series. At the time, I wasn’t a fan of the aluminium casing and was happy enough with the Android phone I’d switched to after the 4s.

I would have kept my 7 Plus, but I switched only to go back to black because I couldn’t stand white bezels - a poor buying choice when I got the 7 Plus. I went for the 8 Plus as I wasn’t convinced by the X.

Switched to the XS this year as the weight and bulk of the plus sized devices were starting to grate.

Since I’d fallen into the habit of changing annually, I joined iPhone Upgrade Programme for the XS but I’m starting to think I’ll end up just paying it off as this is the happiest I’ve been with a phone to date.

Started with 5, 6, 7 and currently Xs

Skipped the S models cause honestly I didn't really used my phones that much. Coming from a 6, I purchased a 7 last year and decided to skip 8 and X cause the 7 was perfectly suited for my needs at the time and I wanted to check how the X would perform taking into account all the new changes introduced with that model. This year and made the leap and got and Xs cause I think it's a phone that I can comfortably use for 2 or 3 years without being left behind in terms of technology or updates.

I think this is the first time in my life that I purchase the most current phone, feels weird.
