Okay so everyone agrees to get the iphone 13 mini then? Again its like 300 dollars more than the iphone SE. I mean i can pay for it. So that would mean the iphone 13 mini would be good for many years compared to the iphone SE right?

Also besides apple, do best buy and other stores have these phones on display so I could go there and check it out to see how it is such as if it feel comfortable or its too big or small?

All the calculations are true for US and US prices/taxes/trade-in values. All the data are from trade-in values on Apple.com.
Results are pretty obvious, so everyone decides for themselves.
The case represents buying Iphones so that every group should get a new iphone at the year 5.
$500 every year to have a new iphone annually seems like a no brainer, given that you are only overpaying $42-$500 depending on comparable case. Which leads to annual overpayment of $8 in the best case when compared to not yearly upgraders, and $100 annual overpayment in the worst case.
ive been staring trying to make sense of this excel chart and i just cant.

Okay so that means the new iphone SE second generation... the battery life is literally the same as the iphone SE first generation?

Also for the iphone 13 mini, does anyone know how many hours you get out of it on data? But especially while tethering? For example you turn on your cellular data and tether so you could use the data on your laptop.

Anyone did a test of how many hours you could get on it?

Yeah, it is that baaad. I mean if 3.5-4.5 hrs of Screen On time is ok with you then it is fine, otherwise beware.

The only thing that you need to know that if you buy new iPhone 12-13-14-15 Pro Max every year and trade your old one for $790 for Apple trade-in, then you are spending $2500 in 5 years and enjoy 5 different new iphones every year.
Or you could spend $1100+tax=$1163 now and sit with that phone for 4 years. At year 5, you can buy yourself Pro Max again for $1163. Basically you spend $2300, had only 2 iphones in 5 year period, one of them is dead old so worth nothing.

If you care about battery I wouldn't recommend the SE or 12 mini. I think the old SE actually scores higher than the new one on the official Apple website battery comparison, which means it had better battery in its time. 13 mini or a larger model are your best bet.

Got another question. My charging cable for my old iphone SE is probably damaged as for months, its not charging correctly. If i buy a new iphone 13 mini, does the charging cable come with it?

Could i use it with my old iphone SE? Thing is i still want to have my current old iphone SE as a backup.

You got to be kidding me that the old iphone SE battery is better than the new iphone SE battery?

Also anyone know

If you want a good battery, stay miles away from the 2020 SE! I have one and, while the stand by battery life is great... once you start using the device, it's crap!

I'd vote for the regular 13, and if that's too big..then it'd be 13 mini, imo!

Wait so I cannot use my old iphone SE earbuds with this? I am certainly not paying hundreds of dollars for any airpods etc.

Also when you go to apple site and try to order it,

Do you choose one of the carrier or you do click on connect on your own later? I see that option cost a bit more? Thing is i want the phone unlocked since I will be using it abroad. So does that mean i cannot choose the tmobile option? I had thought whether you choose tmobile, att or sprint etc... this basically was giving you a free sim card to use whether or not you sign up for their plan later on?

I remember years ago when I ordered the iphone SE when it came out, they had all the carrier options or no sim. I chosed no sim since i plan to use it outside the US and thus wouldn't need tmobile or whatnot sim card. But i remember it was the same price. So does choosing tmobile or sprint or att or verizon basically give you a free sim card whether you use it now or in the future? So was it different back then? Because now i see if you pick choose your own later which means no sim... cost more?

You can use your old earbuds with the new phone, you just need a lightning to 3.5mm dongle. I'm not sure if they still package the adapter with new phones or not. I'll find out this week when my 13 mini arrives.

If you want to use the phone with different carriers abroad, I would likely opt for the option that comes without a sim. If you choose the payment plan, it is possible that the carrier will lock the phone to their network and not allow it to be used elsewhere until the phone is paid off. The extra price for the unlocked phone is basically the $30 activation fee that your carrier will call an 'upgrade' fee if you purchase the phone through them to replace a current phone or an 'activation' fee if you add a new line to your account.

Once the phone is activated, even before it is paid off, it can be moved to different phone numbers by swapping SIM cards around, i.e. if you add a new line for a kid but want the new phone for yourself, you can make the new phone yours by putting your sim card in the phone and putting the SIM card from the new phone in your old phone for your kid to use. Whether or not you can use the phone on another network depends on the shenanigans your carrier might perform to lock it down. Once the phone is paid in full, or more likely at least one billing cycle after your phone is paid in full, any carrier lock should go away and you will be free to move it around from network to network like your old SE.

Like you, I am upgrading from an original SE. It has been a great phone, and might just get a battery replacement and serve one of my kids for a year or two in the near future. Regardless, it will be there as a reliable back up phone just in case a phone in the family has problems. I just can't believe the value that phone has been. It was the first iPhone that truly piqued my interest as being advanced enough to last more than two years. I never saw myself getting over 5.5 years out of it (longer than any of my Macs over the years).

Yes, I would say the best advice is to get the 13 mini. The potentially improved battery life, extra storage over the 12 mini, smallish form factor, camera tech, and having a processor that is based on tech a generation newer than the M1 Mac lineup are enough to indicate to me that this will be another phone that should age well and be a worthy successor to the original SE. The 13 mini is going to be a pleasant upgrade for me, even if the mini is still a little larger form factor than I would prefer. I'm just glad I held out long enough that I don't have to try to fit an iPad in my pocket.

That sounds so much like my daughter. She drives a 2006 Saab and loves her iPhone SE. She's not a technology plebe like my wife (who knows NOTHING), she has a good job and could buy a new car and new iPhone, but just doesn't care about that kind of stuff. The Saab just works and that's fine with her. Same with her iPhone SE.
Where are these type of women regionally located ? 🤣

Posted this in a new thread but should have continued it in this thread.

I was going to order the 13 mini based on what I read online as I'm used to a small phone. And I see new phones throughout the years where they are just big... which I did not like.

I went to apple store earlier to take a look at the iphones and to my shock, the iphone 13 isn't that big as I thought it would be. I could hold it and use it with one hand but it was a bit uncomfortable. However, I didn't play around it that much to see if its that comfortable. I then took a look at the iphone 13 mini and to my shock, it was a lot smaller than I thought it was. I had thought it was the size of like an iphone 7... so I thought probably best for the mini. But it seem smaller than the 7? I had seen how a 7 looked and felt so I thought okay if its same size, I would just go with that mini. Now, I know there is no home button in the new iphones.

But this iphone 13 mini, it isn't that much bigger than my first generation iphone SE. But not only that, is it even smaller compared to the second generation SE? I took a look at that at apple store and they look very close in size. It felt like the second generation SE was more wider? It surely felt much more easier holding the iphone 13 mini in one hand compared to the second generation SE. Anyone can confirm this?

Now which one of these phones would you say is best for me? Im looking for long battery as the main thing. I'm getting the minimum storage space as I don't need much storage. It will be unlocked and I will be buying it online at apple. Also the screen of the iphone 13 looks really nice and big though. However, it seemed like the iphone 13 mini screen size seem really small? Again, I could not believe that the mini looked and felt so small. It was barely bigger than my old SE. When I first saw the second generation SE and felt it... its definitely a bit bigger than my old SE. Then when I saw the iphone 13 mini... I thought... wow that is much smaller.

I do know that the iphone 13 mini will cost around 100 dollars less which was another reason I was going with that. Then again if you are paying 800 dollars for a phone... well 900 dollars is pretty close to it.

Just curious. Another thing I want to mention is when i use my old iphone SE, i mainly use one hand to type and other things many times. This would be a huge issue with the iphone 13 right?

Can people use the iphone 13 with no problem just one hand? I assume only ppl with big hands? Thus if im walking, i always hold phone in one hand to type and click on things etc. Or is almost everyone using two hands to do this if using the iphone 13?

Can you just buy either an iphone 13 or 13 mini and if you don't like it, return it within the 14 day return window for a refund? Other peoples experiences and preferences will seldom match up exactly to your user experience.
