Wow... that thing looks like it is drone-strike resistant. It looks like a great option for those that aren't concerned by the weight and thickness of their cases.

it is all of that, thicker, heavier and they’ve done tests dropping it without damage. I can’t say enough about the excellent qualiTy.

I do wish it wasn’t as heavy but the other attributes seem to outweigh that disadvantage. I do wonder about it being magnetic adding to the weight. other than placing it on a metal refrigerator (do any people really do this) it has to add to the weight.

Anyway, a quality cover that will outlive the IPad….and that’s saying something!

I wanted to post an update. After using the cover for a few days I have to admit it’s too heavy. When I received my updated IPad model recently I was pleasantly surprised at how much lighter it was than mine (without the case) which was several years old.

the weight of Zugu case is substantial and IMO it’s heavier than the IPad itself and feels like dead weight with the IPad inserted. The weight of the case was starting to get to me this weekend and this morning I just happened to grab my old IPad with the old case, and it’s a relief. While I can’t say enough about the outstanding quality of the Zugu case, I can’t continue to use it. I’m currently looking for another case.

I apologize to anyone who purchased it based on my posts and finds it unsuitable, I believed I’d get used to the added weight but the opposite has happened.

Hello! Previously I've said to elaborate more, remember? Honestly, you can't elaborate much more apart from what you've already said, it is not easy to translate in words the feelings we have with technology.

From the images I've seen, the ZUGU seems to be greatly built, but heavier and bulkier. I'm still trying to figure it out the best option for me.

I saw your post and had asked specifically what you wanted to know and described every thing I felt was important when considering a cover and the negative experiences with the Zugu cover.

If there is still something specific you’re interested in learning about this case, please let me know.

The weight is the overwhelming drawback in the Zugu case for me. I’m a woman and perhaps the weight might not be an issue for a man.

Are the iPad Air cases better than our 9 gen’s? I would think in trading models given this lack of ergonomy…

I don’t have an IPad Air. I have a basic 9th generation. I think my old IPad was a 5th generation and I did notice that while using the new 9th generation without a case while awaiting the Zugu cover, the basic 9th generation felt considerably lighter than my previous model. I don’t think that helps w your question.

i ordered a very basic case to replace the Zugu for my new 9th generatio. I’m going to set it up this weekend and I’ll post my thoughts if it’s helpful or the case has any merit.

Yes, I understood!
My point is: are the newest iPads (namely the Airs) better case-wise?
I want to hear your latest thoughts!

I don’t know but I have never seen a difference in regular IPad covers vs those for the Air or Pro. You might want to try googling for best IPad Air reviews 2023 as many sites do year end best of reviews. That being said be careful as sone sites are paid sponsors, it’s a minefield to navigate but should yield some help.

I’m going to miss smart covers if I buy any iPads to replace my 9th gen and 5th gen Mini.
It's interesting because I remember your words about smart covers in a post like this one.
I even searched for apple smart keyboard, but it was not what I needed.
The Smart Cover is exactly the best cover for the way I grab the tablet. I don't understand why they don't do it anymore for the newest ones.

Apple stopped producing smartcovers for iPads when they introduced camera bumps on iPads. They needed the back cover of a folio to allow the iPad to lay flat on a table. Some will say that it was the change in the chassis that forced the elimination of the smartcover as an option, but that is debatable. Giving Apple a justifiable reason to charge more for folios was just a happy coincidence.

I love the Apple Smart Keyboard. It's not for everyone, but as a touch typist, the lower key travel and lower resistance allows me to type faster on that keyboard than any other. Of course it is the exact opposite of those clunky and chunky mechanical keyboards that all the cool kids are using these days. (I used mechanical keyboards for over 30 years and I never want to use another one again)

One day, if the ASK is at a good price, I'll take it.
For now, I'll leave these images of the new outfit.
Should I buy another brand new ASCover for 10$, just in case? 😂😂

I've always liked the SC since my iPad2, but over time I worried about them popping off when holding my iPad with one hand in portrait; the triangle shape works well for that. So I ended up gravitating towards 3rd party cases where the SC was physically attached to the back cover.

That's why I resisted so much time.
I have always used this iPad with a simple silicone back cover.
The ability to take SC off is cool. A simple magnet mechanism like this one is what iPad cover lineup lacks now.

Yeah. Since the iPad 10 does have side magnets someone probably could make a simple Smart Cover, but I don't think they are as strong as the previous side magnets so the market has moved to smart covers which attach to the back; however some of these let you easily remove the cover/back instead of it gripping the sides.

Beautiful.
The answer to buying another case... yes! That's one of the benefits of these older form-factor iPads. Accessories are dirt cheap. I picked up a Zagg keyboard case for my Mini 5 (turns it into a netbook) for $20 new... with backlit keyboard.

I have a few for my 9th gen and Mini 5. On one for each, I have applied an elastic pocket/sling to hold the Apple Pencil (or 3rd party stylus) When there's nothing in the sling, it is flat.
