As I have said my issue had nothing to do with the size of the objects in the scene. Its the size of the materials on the objects.
But if it works for you that will do for now, you'll probably pick up more on what I'm saying when you do another scene :)

I think I finally get what you mean. The TEXTURE was out of porportion, wich gave it the zoomed out effect. The reason I wasn't understanding you before was simply the word 'map' wich in Bryce is a texture. So for my final attemp at the change in map/ texture/ material I bring you smaller snow:

looking better although can't tell for certain with the smaller imagery, could need the texture in between the two images so far, just play with it till you're happy but you've got the right idea.

Perhaps this has already been addressed (I skimmed thru the previous posts)... but could you turn anti-aliasing on? Even a little bit?

The lighting seems a bit wonky...makes the picture feel flat... like perhaps you are using ambient/fill lighting rather than global illumination/radiosity.

What version of Bryce are you on?

For the preview images (the little ones) I don't have anti-aliasing on since it takes so much longer to render and its not really worth it for the little ones. But for the final full sized image it will be anti-aliased.
