Which iPhone model do you think is of the best value now? i.e. performance / price

Adding a condition: I don't play games

Add even more value to the 11 series when purchased from the Apple Refurb Store:

iPhone SE has the same chip as iPhone 11 (A13) and costs way less. With no other requirements known from your end, SE is the best value hands down.
Second this. If one would ask which model is the best value with regards to performance/price AND functionality then I would choose any of the 11 series simply because of the improved displays, cameras and battery life.

In terms of what you get versus what you would pay (new phones only), I would say the iPhone 12 is probably the best if you can do a carrier deal. $799 for what’s basically the $999 iPhone minus a camera and some material choices.

If buying refurbished/second-hand is also an option, then easily the 11 Pro or 11 Pro Max are the best options, if you’re fine not having 5G for a while.

My vote is for the iPhone XR. Can pick one up for $300 in good condition and battery life is great plus you get the bigger screen that you don’t get on the iPhone SE. Still very fast phone.

11 series are probably the worst value. 1 and nearly 2 generations old already, yet still rather expensive. XR is much better value than 11. It would probably be better to either get the XR or wait foe the 13

Right now? Probably just the SE as the rest of the lineup likely will see a price drop when iPhone 13 is announced in just a few months. The SE is the only one likely to keep its price or only see a minor price drop.

Ignoring the impending release of the iPhone 13, best value will be the XR. It has all the basic tech like FaceID, wireless charging, for the cheapest price. Next best value is the 12, as for $300 more, you get double the storage, higher res OLED screen, and 5G.

it depends on what phone you are currently using now and how long you are going to use the new phone. If you are going to keep your the phone you are gonna buy for very longer period (4-5 yrs) then 12 series are best value as they are only ones with 5G.
Also if you are someone who wants to buy an iphone just for 1-2 yrs untill a notchless phones comes then i think 11 series are the best bet as they can be sold for decent amount in an year or two and performance on 11 series is beast

For 2021, still the XR.
Correct

meaning = like real estate, it will hold its value the best and not go down....

With a used 12PM I expect to pay significantly less than a new one - probably in the ballpark of an iPhone SE when one looks at the savings- the only value that remains higher is the trade in but that’s not really the value the OP is after at this stage I think.

Walmart has new 64gb xr's for $299 through family mobile. Buy it outright and unlock it.
How do you unlock it? Says it’s locked to Walmart Family Mobile and can only be used with that service.

Pay it off and contact customer service.
Its really that simple? Just call customer service and they will unlock it? Why sell them locked in the first place then? During check out, it looks like you have to pay the full price anyway so why sell it locked if a simple call will unlock it? It seems too good to be true.
