I settled on the Super.fi 5 Pro from Ultimate Ears after reading tons of reviews, and I couldn't be happier. Amazon has them on sale right now, too. Almost $50 less than what I paid for mine.

Ultimate Ears makes some darn good earbuds, it's just that everyone automatically jumps to Shure and whatnot. PS: the bose ones are just awful.

So I went to a radically different route than what I had initially planned, and purchased a set of Etymotic 4P's from Amazon.com....

Dude... wtf kind of a brand is Etymotic?? not many people know about this, and their website looks really, really crappy.

I think you made a wrong decision by choosing this Etymotic... you should have gone with Shures or some trusted brand.

If i were u, i would return the Etymotic crap as soon as i get it, and get a decent pair of shure 210s... trust me, u'll be more happy with them

Are you sure about your opinion on Etymotic? I admit that I had never heard of them before, but the reviews available online seem to be pretty convincing on the quality of the earphones...

It is just an opinion… and really there is nothing wrong with Etymotic. (Of curse I am biased as I am a satisfied user. ;)

But to judge a pair of headphones (unheard) on the look of the Company's website? Ridiculous.:rolleyes:

I would go for V Moda Vibes. I owm em, better than the Bose and the others listed. The Bang-Olufsen ones... well, I wasn't impressed at all when I heard them. I was expecting them to be maybe 20-30$, and when I saw that they were 150$, I was shocked.

edit: just noticed you have already made your decision. Enjoy

lemme rephrase my statement:

Etymotic crap is not nearly as good as others like Shures or seinnheisers. I always believe in purchasing from a well established brand... and etymotic is not one of them.

based on the quick search that i performed, it seems that etymotic is just a hearing aid company... and that is different than earphone companies. Shure is dedicated to making earphones, thats why they are good.

ofcourse its your money so you can choose to throw it down the drain or invest in a good pair of earphones i am just giving my opinion, which is- etymotic is no where nearly as good as shures are.

Not to get into a ticking off match here, but do you have any sources for this fact that you presented?

Please understand that I am not alleging that you are lying... I just find it hard to believe, because of tons of reviews about them. But I could be wrong.

all i can say is that you are not going to be nearly as happy as u would have with shures.

i stand by my opinion that etymotics are crap. i have not found anything yet that has led me to believe that they are on level with trusted brands.

I've tried the Shure E4 (retail at 250 when I first bought them from BestBuy). They are overpriced and overrated, considering they are higher model than E2. My Sony In-Ear from my Sony Ericsson w810i was performing way better than the Shure E4 in every possible aspect from noise isolating to sound clarity.

So I quickly went back to return it the next day and bought a pair of Bose QC2. The sales rep look at me as if I was stupid or something, but as soon as I showed him the cheap Sony In-Ear, he agreed with me.

Bose is the way to go, although the QC2 is bulky, it fits nicely around your ear and provides a good noise canceling. Not to mention that it acts like an ear muff too :)

Don't count on my opinion though, because every person has a different ear and preference. My best guess is to try on every single one (with the same setting and song) and see which one you like best.
