Thanks for the article @Pipper99.
@kasakka 30% at the end of the day using also LTE is kinda ok. I can accept that.

How I am seeing it right now:

iPhone XS:
[ ... ]
- Lots of issues

I just want to give some perspective here.

There are not 'lots of issues' with the XS/XS Max. The overwhelming majority of people have perfect phones with zero issues. The same thing happens every year: a new phone comes out and suddenly the forums are flooded with people complaining about issues ... most of whom don't actually experience those issues, but they see the odd outlier talked about somewhere else and just echo it here, etc. And even those that do experience them directly represent a pretty small minority.

Human nature is that people that are happy with their devices are rarely motivated to log on and say they're happy. Instead, people love to complain ... even if they're not actually impacted by the thing they're complaining about. ;) This leads to a misperception, a skewed perspective that might make an outsider think "wow, this thing is full of problems".

Every production run of every device ever made will have a few rare flukes. iPhones are not immune to that reality. But do not take the predictable state of complaint as an indication that the device has lots of issues. It doesn't. The XS Max is an amazing device and if you got that, or the XS, I think you'd be hugely happy with your decision.

How much weight do you put on camera quality? If it’s important, the Xs is a must imo, if you’re happy with ‘good enough’ then there’s really no other truly compelling reason to go for a more expensive Xs imo...

I have X and I'd avoid XS for now. It needs iOS 12.1+ which isnt ready.

For what XS costs you could have Note 9, which is my main driver, along with iPad pro and MacBook.
IOS 12.1 doesn't fix the nasty cellular reception issues

For the money you'd pay for the X, get the Note 9.

Note 9 is extremely refined and has a banging camera, whereas the iPhones are having all sorts of problems.

They do seem to have a lot of issues but I probably won’t buy another android phone

The reason is:
- I’ve had android phones for ever. I would like to switch and give a try to iphones
- I like the iOS a lot and how well they are connected together (I have a macbook and ipad)
- I love the new apple watch series 4 and I can’t use it without an iphone

I’m a XS Max user and I’ll chime in and say I have none of the issues people have reported. I agree people that have no issues, don’t usually post .
I love my XS Max and I am very happy with it.

Hello guys,

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge but I finally want to switch to iOS mostly because I love the operating system and also for the ecosystem and apple’s support on updates etc (I have a Macbook and iPad).

I’ve seen the new iPhones XS, they do look nice and quick but they are expensive imo (compared to the changes they have done to last years model) and they come with a lot of issues like charging, wifi lte signal etc (which is a bit worrying). I will definitely buy an iPhone but I am not sure which one.

A lot of stores still sell the 2017 iPhone X which is around 300€ cheaper than iPhone XS 5.8.
Do you think it’s worth to get a year’s old iPhone X considering the cheaper price? The specs are almost the same, I’m not a big camera or video gaming guy (some of the most important improvements on XS). I do love fast performance though and good battery life.

Any suggestions, info, opinions would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Note: I’m not interested in XS Max or XR

what decision did you finally made?

Hello Tulani,

I have decided to buy the new XS 5.8’
I bought it last week, everything is great. No issues at all with my phone.

Main reasons I chose XS instead of X was the A12 processor (which I’m pretty sure we didn’t see its full potential yet), 1GB extra RAM and for the 1 extra year of apple support (OS, updates). So in other words I was thinking that the XS can be more powerful in the future due to the extra ram and better processor.

Other minor reasons: better camera (even if I rarely really use it), the slightly better battery (at least based on various youtube vids), the slightly better durability and speakers. :)

Hey from Germany here.

Using iPhone XS Max since day one and I have absolute no issues.

Also all guys on work with new XS devices have absolute no issues.

So if you ask X or XS - decide only by hardware (battery, better camera and so on worth the money - yes / no?), not by those few complaining about issues only affecting a few people.
