I have always wanted a Mac however, windows 7 isn't too bad...

Wow, there's a stellar review of Microsoft's latest and greatest: "not too bad!" :D

Of course "not too bad" has the Windows fans doing cartwheels of joy based on what they've been subjected to before. "Windows 7: Sucks less!"

MS has been incredibly successful over the years at lowering consumer expectations to "mediocrity is good enough for me." And that's sad.

Get the Mac. Don't look back.

Is the Mac Mini a worthwhile buy? A fast mini PC?

Was thinking of getting a triple core AMD and 4gig ram etc. Would the Mac Mini be a nippy PC?

Thanks. Never used a Mac so very nervous about getting one!

Used to 3ghz CPU's too!! Just wondering if the 2Ghz Mac will be noticeably slower!

The OS is snappy and everyday stuff will be snippy, but of course the 2ghz is going to slow you down, and you will notice it if you use the machine for things other than light use (docs, email, web surf, music and few videos).

Looking at that spec, the Mac Mini is not too far behind!! I would have gone for the Mac Mini rather than the spec you built. Otherwise a much more powerful spec could have been chosen.

Like i said i game on it and ive used integrated graphics before and they are complete crap even if its the new 9400m, dedicated Ftw. + i have more expandability it was cheaper than a mini $200 cheaper and i can upgrade cpu if i wanted, so it keeps options open, but w.e thats my opinion. I had a 1.83ghz Macbook and after a few years it was quite crappy. Not to mention the intel gma 950 T_T. My point is, it was a few hundred cheaper and its better specs, even if its not by that much, anywhos i have a powerbook :D.

If you were running Vista on your 3GHz machines, the Mac mini will run similar or better than that bloated, sluggish OS. It's Mac OS X that makes the difference.

Good for you!

I'm loving the Mini, although I have already filled up the pathetic hard drive and 1gb ram just isn't enough:(

Sooo, i'm going to have to buy 4gb ram and a bigger hard drive (still undecided between 500gb WD Scorpio Blue or Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500gb or the 320gb WD Scorpio Black), but after these upgrades i'm sure it'll be lightning fast.

ATM it takes ages and kinda hangs when opening iPhoto or anything intensive, but it still manages Firefox, downloads, MSN, Mail, iTunes etc really easily. I'm pleased with it, and glad I bought this over the Dell, and I hope you enjoy your purchase, but just have £50 set aside for some more ram!

RAHHH! RAPTOR SOUNDS EFFECTS! NO SEAGATE. BAD. Best friends mac mini with that HD: logic board fried. same with my mothers. and my neighbors. Black performance is not super overwhelming compared to blue, so save some coin AND get way more space.
