I have a 6s Plus and I'm not interested in the X form factor (FaceID/notch) at all. I've used it and it's just not for me. I will be buying an 8 Plus direct from Apple (unlocked) as soon as Apple drops their price to ~$700-$750 for 256gb when newest iPhones are released in September.

Yeah I may just end up buying my brothers matte black 7 Plus 128gb when he upgrades in the fall. I don't mind not having the latest and greatest. Plus like you I'm not too fond of the X. I actually don't mind the form factor as it's similar size to the 4.7" 6S I have now. But I don't care for face ID. They could have put a finger print reader into the Apple logo on the back. That would have been pretty sweet. As for the notch there's not much that can be done yet. Others have come out with ways to avoid having a notch but you lose things like water resistance due to moving parts such as the camera rising from the top of the phone.

I’m not sure what you mean by the bolded. I don’t think other competitors avoided the Notch, because they didn’t know that that would be in existence until September of last year, they just have their own security methods implemented differently.

Also, how does the iPhone X lose its water resistance rating if it retains the same rating as the iPhone 8?

I'm thinking about moving from my 7+ to an X. But for those who have done the same size move, does the screen on the X seem small because it's so much more narrow? Thanks
