Finished season 3 of Cobra Kai last night. I'm going to group seasons 2 & 3 together and compare them to season 1.

The tone of season 1 vs. the tone of seasons 2 & 3 is pretty different. This is a show that in my opinion, turns dark pretty fast...and I LOVE that! Season 2 is when it starts to turn darker. Each season's story was very well done, and it was fun seeing the characters from the movies make their appearance! Kreese...p***ed me off (to be expected)! You get a little bit of character building with Kreese through flashbacks to Vietnam and it gives you an idea of why he is the way he is, but it did NOT change my opinion of him at all 😂 He's still an ass 😂

I did not dislike any season, but if I had to pick a favorite, I would say the overall favorite is season 3 because I liked the darker tone. Down to individual episodes, Episode 2 of season 2 had one of my favorite scenes. I'll call it a training montage, one of which was basically a balancing act. If I can get myself back on top of my marital arts game, that balance challenge is actually something I'd like to try! The final scene of the season 3 finale is fantastic, but I'd say the final scene of the season 2 finale gets the win in my opinion. It was probably the best ending to a season I've seen on any show. I really didn't know what to say after that episode ended!

As for a criticism...I have one and it can be an either-or. I wish either the episodes were longer...or the seasons had just a few more episodes. Each season is 10 episodes and each episode ranges from 22-40ish minutes. If a season was 10 40-minute episodes or maybe 13 episodes at the current lengths, I think it would be perfect. I don't even need BOTH of those to be satisfied. Just one of those two things would be great! This was a show that was VERY difficult to stop watching and now I'm left at the point of "crap...I finished it!" Glad to hear season 4 is in the works!

I lost interest midway through season 3. I'll pick it back up soon though...

I'm enjoying Wandavision way more than I thought I would. Definitely worth the watch. And these days I'm really digging the shorter run times of shows like this one and The Mandalorian.

Unorthodox on Netflix. Not exactly suitable for binge watching as there are only 4 episodes. But a fantastic miniseries that I can wholeheartedly recommend!

Shira Haas is a charismatic, captivating and very believable actress who leaves an indelible impression! Her role in the miniseries Unorthodox is stellar!

Binging samples only allowed

Believe it or not, I have missed on The Wire, and now I'm playing 'catch up', fortunately on the HD remastered versions.

Criminal Minds and NCIS.

Watching and liking it also BUT... only drops on Mondays at 10:00pm? WTF?

I think that's because it still "airs" on the traditional HBO channel on TV.

It should also be available on HBO's streaming services... HBO Go, HBO Max, HBO 12 Pro Max...

🤣

HBO is still primarily a cable channel (only ~30% are streaming subscribers), and does not follow the binge release streaming model.

Man, I remember being a young teenager when HBO first became an option for those lucky enough to have cable in the early 1980's...!

Starting season five of The Expanse right now...!

Watched Grand Designs, seasons 10 and 15, on Netflix. I enjoy watching construction progress and really enjoyed how creative the designs were. Almost everyone struggled with their budget but a few managed it in very creative and effective ways. I love how the UK does plaster interiors as opposed to drywall/plasterboard here in the US. It really is a superior material. I might watch the few seasons available on Prime that are ad supported.

How do you do it in the US then?

My wife and I are slowly working our way through this now. Great show.

TV series tracks with the books really well, I am watching season five & have to keep reminding myself that I have NOT watched this yet, I am just remembering the books...!

Well, finished season five of The Expanse...!

Things different from the books, things happening due to Real World issues...

But all in all, the Expanse is still a pretty damned good Science Fiction show...!!!

Looking forward to season six (the final season), and I guess I got some reading to do (I left off on book five)...!

Mostly the difference is in the finished surface. Here we put a thin layer of gypsum compound/mud as the finished surface of our walls. It doesn’t harden up like plaster as it dries to cure as opposed to plaster which cures and hardens via a chemical reaction. There is the option to do what we call “thin wall” here which is a hybrid of the two, using plasterboard as the lathe/substrate and plaster as the finish. It’s not truly a hybrid as the plasterboard is specific for plaster, i.e. I don’t think one can just put plaster on normal drywall as it won’t necessarily bond to it. The paper surface is different. Plaster is amazing for its durability and can be polished to a brilliant finish. Our gypsum is soft and easily damaged (and more easily repaired) and is typically textured rather than left smooth as it takes much more effort to make a smooth gypsum finish look good.
Whew! Tried to be concise and not elaborate too much. The history of building materials is interesting to me and I can bore people to death talking about it.

Scientology: The Aftermath by Leah Remini and Mark Rinder. Technically not a fictional TV series, but oh boy it was GOOD. To avoid PRSI content, I'll just say that I found the subject incredibly intriguing and worth of further investigation

Thanks. I had no idea it wasn’t the same thing.
