just bought the speakeasy voice recorder. Not impressed with the fact that thw sensitivity of the mic is poor!! Playback from the phone is then barely heard! I wanted recorder for meetings really and the fact that it cannot pick up sound from a close distance, I cant see it working well. I dont know if the iphones mic is the problem or the software.
It works well when you have the headphones in with the built in mic.

I was just looking at the Description for Speakeasy on the App Store and the developers have added this:

***An Important Note About Playback Volume***

The current version of SpeakEasy uses the iPhone's earpiece speaker, rather than the large speaker below the Home button, for audio playback without headphones. We have compiled a free update (Version 1.1) that will allow users to choose which speaker to use for playback and will default to the larger speaker. Unfortunately, Apple has not yet responded to our requests to have this update pushed to the users...In the meantime, you will get better playback sound clarity in SpeakEasy by using your headphones or by holding the iPhone to your ear as you would when talking on the phone or using Visual Voicemail.

Other problem is the file transfer to the computer which is inexistent.

Anyway, if anyone knows how I could improve the sensitivity please let me know.

I have read that SpeakEasy has plans to add the transfer to Mac feature in the near future. If they do that, they have my business! None of the other apps do that.

Has anyone tried the app called Audio Recorder by Peerium Inc? It allows emailing of audio files to yourself or someone on your contact list (although it is in a strange Quicktime format) and seems to have the best recording controls (allows you to record, play and add to an existing recording all on the same screen).

it is only $2.99, cheaper than SpeakEasy voice recorder.

If anyone from Peerium is reading this, you may want to put the word "voice" somewhere in your app title to make it show up in searches.

Seems now that SpeakEasy has been updated, the headphones issue I was having has been resolved, but now I'm having another problem. I might be blind, but I haven't been able to find out how to access the program's settings to make changes to the sample rate and default speaker etc. Could anyone post directions on how to change the settings?

Thanks. J.

That IS easy. I had no idea that the apps could use the main settings section to store the settings. Good to have them in one place, but kinda inconvenient if you'd like to access them while in the app. Anyway, thanks for the response!

Yes I tried this and it works well, although it took a few goes to get the e-mail to actually send. When it did the quality was pretty good - it uses the caf format familiar to Garageband users.
