once the New iphone is released?

I had an iphone and went to a S4 (on verizon) and while I was an android guy at heart.. I hate Touchwiz and there is no smooth AOSP phone on verizon. My S4 is rom'd and is full of bugs/keep missing important calls.

So, if you had to make an educated guess which phone would be worth more come release of the new iphone? S4 or Iphone5 (I will sell which ever and purchase new iphone5s out of contract)

iPhones, no question, especially if you have the higher storage capacity versions.

Curious, what rom are you using?

Liquidsmooth for the majority of my short ownership.

Bugs- GPS would Not lock.

Mic does now work on a headset (ear buds)

Phone calls at times go to VM. Or there is no sound.

Currently on CM.

Bugs- Ive missed almost every single call last night and had people emailing me literally pissed off because it basicly "f u'd" them..

I have the utmost respect and support these developers and I understand this phone is still new. I am not taking away from them at all. I would never willingly want to do what they do lol. I am just at a point in my life that this phone is a tool rather then luxury. Ill deal with the small screen.

I'm using CleanROM for my Note II; it's a stock rom, no bugs, no glitches (that I know of). I personally think its the next best thing to stock android. You should give it a try.

Just wait a week for the Google edition final firmware and you will have a vanilla android ROM made for your phone.

All the issues you are having is from trying to port a nexus 4 ROM on your phone that was never made for your specific hardware.

I would run a touch ROM until an official Google edition ROM comes out

Iphone 5 always holds more resale value. They have a new android every week it seems. So since there is always a next best thing with android, the value of your android phone seems to depreciate at a much faster pace.

Put it more simply.

An iPhone exudes style. Nothing from the Android camp ever comes close. Consequently, folks who can afford to buy one will pay big bucks so they can look cool - and those who can't will risk their lives to steal it (from public figures in broad daylight, no less) so they can look cool.

If you don't own/use an iPhone (or any other Apple product tbh), in the eyes of Apple and its loyal followers, you are not cool. Full stop. These iDevices, including broken ones, are the next best thing to bars of gold.

The iPhone will hold value better, but the gap between iPhones and Samsungs isn't as big as you'd think. A lot of Android phones don't hold value well but the vast popularity of the Samsungs keeps them in a reasonable value as long as they're the flagships and not the crappy cheap ones.

I don't care.

Using both an iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 at the present, I buy phones to _use_ and enjoy.

But then again I'm not vain. I don't give a flip about what I'm seen with. It's just a bloody phone.

Once I'm done with mine I give them away. It's much more rewarding for me to give it to someone in the family or to a friend that would appreciate it. Because I keep mine in pristine condition those who receive them are thrilled.

Pass it on and make someone smile :)

I would agree. Also note that while the S4 won't be a new device when the next iphone is out. It will probably still be available on contract. So it won't as much of its value like if it was being replaced by the S5.

can you rephrase that? the s4 will be worth more being its still the top android vs the iphone5 will now be replaced?

depending on capacity the S4 may be worth more seeing as the iphone will be replaced. That is expecting the new iphone is released around sept.-oct. Every other major player has already released a phone. It would be silly to see an S5 or HTC One II this fall

I'm trying to understand the logic here. So instead of having a perfectly working phone with a UI you can't stand, you decide to update it with a ROM that makes it unstable and unusable? You prefer unstable over usable? Why not restore it back to normal and do like the other one mentioned and install Nova Launcher?

If you can't stand touchwiz, why did you buy the phone in the first place?

My Answer: Because I can. Figured I would switch things up and see which platform I truly liked (being new to osx).

Just wanted to hang on to the phone that has the most value for when the 5S drops (if it even interests me). I have unlimited data on VZW so I have to get my phones out of contract.

OP, what ROM are you using? Install CyanogenMod or AOKP from their official websites, I guarantee it will be a lot more stable.

On CM. 1 out of 3 times I make a call my ear piece n speaker phone doesn't work. Have to hang up and redial. Gives me a call can't be completed. All while still making the call to the person

Post your bug in the relevant xda thread. AFAIK all the GS4 variants only have nightlies for CM so that could be why. Try flashing a newer nightly and wipe user data and cache at the same time. If your problem persists just flash a stock ROM and use a custom launcher until CM gets a milestone or stable release for your phone.

Or if you are currently using an unofficial version of CM, install the official version from the CM website. I always get a lot more bugs from unofficial ports than I do from official ones.

Thanks, yeah its the latest.. Something that is common on all AOSP roms for the s4 until they pull samsung code from the google edition S4.

Should be soon.

Someone wants to trade me a brand new sealed I5.. almost tempted but s4 has spoiled me with SD card and great battery life. Never have i been so torn on a decision lol.
