I'd never use the rumored mini and I don't think it will come to frutition - but if it did, I'd have no use for it. The current iPad is the perfect size for a tablet. Apple nailed it and should continue to develop in that space rather then developing a new sized iPad.

There is no reason they can't develop for both. They do it for their other products.

Also, if they essentially shrink it without lossing the actual ratio of screen size, no more real developing would have to be done App-wise, as most of them will be ready to go from the start.

This is great but what about the other nigh 7 billion people?

7 billion people will not be buying the non-existent iPad mini.

I could certainly be wrong, but I don't see it. They already have the perfect size for a tablet. Why mess about when you're already #1. Apple usually leaves the budget items for the others to pick up.

in your OPINION they already have the perfect size tablet. There is indeed a market for a smaller one and they would be foolish not to attempt to make a grab for it. If they don't do it this year, fine. But I don't see them holding off for long.

For those people who already have 2 ipads or have a reg and plan on a small how do you make use of 2+ ipads?

I mean I guess I have a touchpad that I just leave in the bathroom for reading is it the same idea? I can justify it for a $100 reader but $400-$500 idk.

If there is going to be an iPad mini, it is going to be a budget device designed at reeling in less wealthy customers into the apple ecosystem. I will laugh at those who buy an iPad mini expecting nothing less than a full iPad which has been resized.

Indeed, that's how these forums work. I express MY views; I could hardly be expected to express your views.

In my opinion, Apple will leave the mini tablet market to Amazon and Google so they can concentrate on improving the iPad size we know and love today.

I could certainly be wrong. One thing we know for sure is none of us knows for sure :)

Except you come off as 'matter of factly' with your posts. Just wanted to remind you that no matter how many times you say it, doesn't mean it is a 'perfect' size for everyone, and no, we don't all 'know and love' it.

Apple hasn't conformed to financial standards, why would they start now?

Why is it so hard for you guys to see that people out there might want a smaller size iPad? And not be butt hurt about it. Nothing will happen to your precious current sized ipad, don't worry :(

No one is butt hurt (and that's really a silly and childish phrase) I'm just stating my opinion. Each time I have said " i could be wrong".

However, just because some people might want a smaller iPad does not mean Apple will build you one. Some people want a $500 lap top, doesn't mean Apple will build you one.

In the meantime, millions of us who know and love the current iPad will continue to enjoy it while others dream of things that don't exist and are not likely to exist anytime soon.

The 'butt hurt' quote was not for you? Childish, yes, but fitting to anyone stating they will "laugh at people" who don't get an ipad mini.

I still feel you come off as very dismissive and forward with your opinion. I guess I am just lumping you in with the rest of the people on this board that don't want Apple to do it. Your first statement suggests it and it just does not make sense. It won't affect you in any way just like Apple making multiple sized laptops and desktops doesn't.

Anyway, here is to hoping you are wrong :)

For your sake, I hope I'm wrong and you get the gadget you want :)

I have no interest in a smaller iPad. I prefer the larger form factor of the current iPad. For me, the smaller form factor (that is too big for most pockets) offers no benefit.

I do think there is a large market for a smaller, cheaper iPad, though.

I'll put my bets on a mini retina. As a matter of fact, that's why I think there will be one. I've used a 7" and didn't warm up to it but would like a retina version.

People might go wild over a mini retina, huge lines and all.

And to have the trademark Apple mania, even with a hugely saturated market would say something in itself.

in your OPINION...

Really?? I think its pretty obvious that what he says about the iPad is his opinion.

Is anyone on here really going to think, "Gee, that guy must be an expert in the field? Unless someone reminds me that was an opinion I'm going to take that statement as fact."

Back on topic, I have never thought my 2 is too large, so unless handling the Mini is a revelation the current size is still ideal for me.

I do like the 7" (had a Playbook) for travel, but 90% of the time I'm not travelling so it would make sense to go with a larger form factor for reading and web browsing at home.

If I'm getting a tablet I'm getting the largest one they make, I want to watch movies and play games on the biggest screen that I can get.

Really? Did you not read the rest of my post, oh defender of macrumors? I said his posts came off as forward. As if it mattered to him that Apple was planning a new size.

I realize everyone on here is offering their opinion. Just some people think their opinion matters more than others. As in, YOU think it is a perfect size, so why would they bother with another size? What kind of logic is that?

Anyway, I feel like him/her and I cleared it up, but if you want to continue this, by all means...

I don't need to continue anything. My enjoyment of the regular-sized iPad does not hinge on anyone's opinion of a smaller iPad.

I was going to wait for the possibility of a mini, but without Retina i want nothing to do with it. I just bought an iPad 3 yesterday and I'm glad I did. I'm still blown away by the screen, even though I knew what to expect and I have a 4S.

I already have an iPad 2 that's serving my family extremely well. An iPad Mini would be a great addition as a kid friendly device.

I have the iPad 3 and getting the mini as well. I can use the smaller for on the go and with the iCloud all of my projects will be interchangeable.
