Ok - here it is, in all of it's glory. And for those that missed it in my earlier post - it worked! I'm getting the 24"!

And my wife will be using this more than me, so her approval was more important than me just getting my way...

OMG. That's a work of art right there. Bravo. The Apple logo is just- orgasmic.

We did go to the store, but she needs to see it on the desk before she can make her decision. Those that are married will understand. I can't believe that there isn't a mac addict with a tape measure. If it helps, while I've always liked macs, this will be my first personal Mac - switching from a Dell and Windows XP.
I would tell my wife to get bent.

What, are you kidding me? When my wife saw the 24" iMac at the store, she said "I want one." :D

Then she looked at the price tag. "Nevermind." :(

My other half didnt really mind, she knew I could afford it, was just annoyed at the wait for it to arrive.

She loves the screen, how clear and crisp it is.

I too was stunned by how *big* the 24" is, but after a while it just looks right. The chin appears a lot smaller than on the previous model.

Women will never realize that boys never grow up, only their toys get bigger and more expensive that will never change. PS What do you do if your wife wanders more than 2 mt away from the kitchen sink? Make the chain shorter. :D:D Congatulations on the 24in.

My wife originally thought that the 24 inch iMac would be huge, but I ordered one on the day of release (Aug 7), and she was really impressed when it arrived. I'm sure that your wife will love the 24 inch iMac too. At our house, she will be the primary user, and I think she will get many years of usage out of it. Enjoy yours too.

Good thing you're getting the 24" mate. It would of been a real shame if you had to leave her for the 24", but that there wouldn't of been anyway around it.

Why? I've left a man over a matter of 4". :p

But I'm happy to see this guy gets the 24". The whole prospect of actually worrying about the size difference between 20 and 24 with that much desk room seems almost silly. In a while both of them would probably find the 20" too small and wind up spending more to get a larger one.

I like the faux-wood mockup! Way to go. I'm sure that is what the next Dell will look like!

Congrats on the 24"!

How long have you been married? You have to sell the benefits, not the features. If you would have mocked up a collage of wedding photographs, you may be shopping for a 30" ACD. ;)If there is any cognitive dissonance, load up a slideshow of love!

Matte?

So thats what it looks like without the glass! :D

Congrats on the OK for 24"!

I understand the "She whom you must obey" part.
It goes double in my house! Lol!

iMac in all of its glory!

Some of you asked for an "After" photo when my 24" iMac arrived. It took longer than expected, thanks to some business transactions and the release of Leopard, but here it is:

It's SOOOOOO much better than my old pc. I still have a Dell laptop for work, which is becoming excrutiating to use after a few days on the Mac. As for the original subject of this post - the 24" is huge - but we got used to it within the first day.

And for those that care: 2.8 GHZ Intel Processor, 500 GB Hard drive, 4 GB RAM (after market). I know that there are those that have had their problems, and that these people frequent the forum more than others, but so far I don't have a single complaint. Loving it!

Brother man, I am married as well and will not let my wife tell me which iMac I can and cannot get. Stand up for yourself.

Wow, you don't compromise (in caps no less)...sounds like your wife must be consumed with marital bliss. Do you use the whip on her when she expresses an opinion that differs from yours? Or, just when she speaks out of turn?

Every top needs a bottom, I guess...as long as you're both happy
