I prefer white. I read a lot, from scientific journal, seminar paper, kindle books, news etc. White bezel make all the screen uniformly white edge to edge. I rarely use dark mode anyway.

How interesting. I prefer black bezels and I use dark mode almost all the time - and brightness super low.

That's actually my gripe with white bezels. The white color isn't uniform between bezel and display plus there's still this tiny black border around the LCD and there are black spots for camera, etc. The inconsistencies bug me more than just having plain black bezels.

I used to love love loveeeee white bezels.

now I prefer no bezel and since there needs to be a little, black > white in that case. Especially with dark mode.

This is an abomination. White is Apple's trademark color. They and everyone else seem to have forgotten that. If you want black buy an Android.

Never liked white bezels on iOS devices. I’ve always bought ones with black bezels.

However, I do have an M1 iMac and I do really like the bezels on it.

Sorry for bumping an old post, but I prefer the white bezels since most web pages have a white background. The white bezel simply disappears into the background. Looks like I'll be holding onto my 8th gen iPad and iPad Air 2 for a while.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency across the product lines these days.
  1. Brand new iMacs now have a WHITE bezel, while the phones and tablets are all black.
  2. The iMac, Macbook, and the base iPad all come with 3.5 headphone jack, while the iPad Air, iPad Pro , and iPhones no longer include one.
  3. The base iPad and iPhone SE include Touch ID home buttons while the iPad Air and iPad Pro no longer include one.

    Very strange decisions indeed.

Well one of the reasons I’m still holding on to the 10.5 pro. I love the white bezels. I’m hoping apple will make a new ipad with white bezels, but as thin as the new ones..unlikely though

Black bezel is always better to presents what’s on the screen (general visual presentation 101).
But white was fun too in the age of thick bezels.
Nowadays, as bezels growing thinner, I think black is always better. Not to mention it compliments whatever color on the back are.

I don’t agree with this in particular when displaying text. The white bezel always made be feel what I was reading was paper and the hardware and software more seamlessly flowed into each other.

Black bezel on the other hand makes it feel like I’m holding a screen.

They brought it back on the iMac so you never know.

I never liked the white bezels, and after using them for a while neither do any of my family members anymore. I used to buy different colors to make it easier to tell whose is who's, but then no one wanted the white ones anymore. So I'm glad they got rid of it.
White bezels are a good way to keep them from borrowing your iPad.

White bezel preferred here. I've gotten used to black and they're ok (but dull). But white to me always made them different from mass tablets and electronics, and what Apple was originally all about.

My 10.5” Pro (and all iPhones for that matter until the X) were with a white front. I always felt it was more Apple-like, but I honestly barely notice them so it doesn’t matter to me. I’m not sure the white bezels would look as good on the new devices.
I agree with the white feeling more Apple-like. My first ever apple device was a white macbook.

Current all screen design with minimal black bezels is superior IMO, though I do wish Apple would have released the rumored MBA with white bezels and keyboard in pastel colors

I had a white bezel iPad for several years and liked it. I like the thin black bezels of the iPad Pro but I really wish it came in more colors other than space grey and silver. I miss the bright colors of the old Apple like blue, orange etc. For some reason, “pro” has become associated with dullness at Apple.
I’m with you on that, I would love a 11 inch iPad Pro in either rose gold or gold colour.
