why do people choose white macbook more than black macbook?
all videos in youtube except for 1 or 2 all are white.

i got a white one because i didn't want to pay the $150 tax for the black one, and because it matches everything else i have, like my iMac and such.

Also, white is traditional Apple. Many people like it for the immediate recognition. Black might look like just another PC.

Except for the decade or so of Black PowerBooks...

PowerBooks would correspond to the MBP. I was speaking of the iBook to MacBook transformation. There have also been very few (if any) White notebooks that were not made by Apple.

"A white notebook is probably an Apple" =! "Apple only makes white notebooks"

:D

I can definitely see people buying a black one just to differentiate it. There's so many white ones out there, I'd be afraid to take the wrong one accidentally. Thank god, I have an iBook :p

Of course a sticker would achieve the same effect.

Black is quite expensive, also its possibly emo as well ^^

I just ordered the lowest model, white w/o dvd burner. The colour is irrelevant really, but the price isn't.

Also most maccessorices are white, cables etc.

Personally I went with the middle White MacBook because I preferred the white to the black. Saying that though, even if I liked the black as well I wouldn't have wanted to have paid the extra money just for the colour.

Why White?

I bought my White Macbook for distinction, it matches my iPod and most of all...It doesn't show all the fingerprints and oily smudges as easy.

When my girlfriend and I go out to an WiFi cafe and she pulls out her Dell laptop, no one notices. When I pull out my white macbook, people look and come over and want to see what it is. I think the white macbooks have the overall sex appeal to them I guess. I don't know...;)

that actually turns me off; i don't like attention being drawn to me. call me old-fashioned. i did, however, choose white b/c it was cheaper and i really did think it looked better. it'd be nice to have a black one to go with it, though.

The white model appealed to me more and has that "slick" Apple look.. also I saved some money on my car insurance by switching to Geico, haha.

  • whitebook is only a thousand bucks (education discount)
  • don't need a DVD burner
  • Apple's hard drive prices are absurd
  • the Macbook has the easiest-to-replace hard drive of any laptop on the market
  • fingerprints suck
  • matches the Mighty Mouse
  • chicks dig it
I will probably swap out the hard drive this winter. Only the best for my Leopard!

For me....

  • no one but Apple makes a white one (all PC companies used black until silver became the newest fad)
  • Why spend an extra $200 for a larger hdd and a different color?
  • Mac accessories (mighty mouse, magsafe adapter, etc) are white
  • White just looked cleaner (in my opinion) and I always get compliments on it cause it stands out.

BTW Compaq, BenQ and Asus have all recently made white laptops. They've fooled me once or twice for about 1 second.

I have white. No way would I pay more for a different color. I do spend more time trying to keep my white MB clean, but that might be why it's the first computer I've ever had that still looks new after a year.

Sony and Fujitsu have had white models out in the past too (and Sony's with a plastic casing may have even preceded the original iBook).

I really, really want a black MB...I mean, I really want it to be black -- but at the same time, I HATE paying money for a freaking color (and I'm a student and on a budget and so it's leaving me very Sophie's Choice). I have a Black 60 GB iPod, so I want it for matching purposes, but I also just love the look. My media rig (PC) is piano black high gloss, so the MB would match everything. Still...paying for a color kills me. I'm have tempted to just get a white one, some really nice acrylic spray paint and tape it off and paint the damn thing myself -- a la Colorworks, but I doubt I'll do that.

I think it's messed up that they are still charging a premium for a freaking color, after a year -- I mean, they didn't do that with the iPod.
