Most of the ideas being "copied" by one company or another are all common sense things anyway. But whoever does it second is considered to be stealing. Android initially ripped off iOS, that's kind of a no brainer. But since then it has evolved. A lot. I don't think the two OS's look or behave anything alike. And at the end of the day, most of us are just using these phones as a means to access apps, and the App store/Google Play store are almost identical at this point.

Honestly, I think iOS 7 looks great for the most part, but the only real new feature that I find interesting (and don't find on Android) is Air Drop. But no matter what iOS does, you can count on a thousand developers releasing apps for Android to mimmic iOS behaviors. And since Air Drop will be an iOS only feature, it looses luster. Just like iMessage and Face Time, etc. I am way more interested in an app that performs across at least the two major platforms than I ever will be in a native OS feature. Apple and Google both aren't going anywhere any time soon, and neither is Samsung. Until the whole world is using the same hardware and software, there is no wowing me with exclusive features. It's not like the old days anymore where every smartphone was a Black Berry.

Have you never heard of WiFi direct or NFC file transfers on android? Android from the first moto droid 1 supported dlna and could connect to any device or computer other then an Apple locked down system and could look at the whole hard drive on the computer and play, move copy movies,mp3 or what ever you wanted with ease.

Air drop is nothing compared to android NFC,WiFi direct and dlna file sharing

I didn't say Apple did it first. I am saying I think Air Drop looks great. It's a great, easy, baked in way to share stuff. But it's flawed because it will only play nice with iOS devices. That was kind of my whole point- Apple's greatest features are the exclusive ones and that's why I prefer third party stuff. My friends use 4 different mobile platforms, so Apple's way is never the best option for me and mine.

Air Drop has been available on both Android, iOS, PC and Mac for about a year with the app called Bump (and I'm sure there are a ton of others). Anything iOS has come up with since iOS5 has been an Android feature for a while and most, if not all those features/apps, are now cross platform.

But your point is well taken, regarding cross platform availability. That's is why I left the exclusion zone known as the Apple ecosystem and dumped all my Apple TV's in favor of Roku 2's and 3's, dumped my iPads in favor of Nexus 7's, dumped my iphones in favor of Samsung SIII's and a Note 2, switched out iTunes in favor of Google Apps and Plex Media server, and still use my HP Desktop along with my iMac. All of my hardware and software can be used in connection with any device I have, and any device I may buy in the future.

I refuse to be held hostage by Apple and its archaic way of controlling its customers.

There is a lot to be said about Apple's ecosystem. To the average joe it's great. If you own a Mac, an iOS device, and an Apple TV you can do some cool stuff very easily. That's how it all started with me. But as I expand my tech horizons and I interact with friends/associates who use several different types of phones, that's when the Apple ecosystem stops working for me. And that's why I like to use third party alternatives.

I think Apple's ecosystem is great, and it's more than adequate for most people. Not for most people who post on here though. :)

One thing is for sure, I am Mac all the way- I can't go back to PC's. Maybe if I bought a super high end or just built one myself, but I can't stand Windows and I think Apple is so far ahead of the curve with their computers. Love my Macs!

People are surprised to learn that i'm an MCSE who's built and repaired PC's for ten years, but at home my main PC is an iMac. I've had it for 5 years, still runs great, and it's never even so much as froze on me yet. Got a magic trackpad for it and made it even better.

I just hope that OSX and macs don't get screwed up, with all the personnel changes happening at Apple.

No my friend you said ios is the only os that has this new feature called airdrop and you said you don't think android has anything like it.

here is a cut and paste of what you said

so you think android is mimicking ios with full dlna, nfc and wifi direct support?

You need to calm down. No one said android is mimicking ios. He just never heard of something like that on android and assumed ios is the first to bring it up. Jesus you can't say anything in these forums without being jumped at
