Will wait for v2

I was quite hopeful about the iPad until it came out. The whole reason I've been interested in it was for its possibilities for me with graphics, drawing and design. Even the event itself was targetted around 'creativity'.

I was quite excited it'd be a good alternative to the expensive screen tablet/stylus options out there, but nope - all I saw was a giant iphone doing all the stuff I can already do. Other than the brief 'brushes' app which is just a cheap drawing tool from the appstore there wasn't anything. The lack of support for photoshop/flash/illustrator or multitasking really limits this thing to just being an 'around the home' toy with very little practical value.

I've got an iphone and a mbp - I don't really need a 3rd device to browse the net and read my emails - it has no productivity which isn't outshone by either of those devices instead. 500 dollars may be a reasonable price for a tablet - but why pay when you can do everything it claims already?

I was really hoping for something revolutionary from apple.... Something that would take us into the future. Make tablets more mainstream.
But IMO, they killed tablets.. for every one.
The iPhone opened new doors. Other companies wanted to be part of what the iPhone brought. The android OS and webOS along with other os's and devices behave the way they do mainly because of how the iPhone changed the way we do things.
The iPod, it brought in a new era of mobile music players... Other devices evolved the idea.

This iPad.... Is just a big iPod. It is way to limiting to be a replacement for a netbook. It has no "killer app". It has no niche.
Up until today I was certain I was going to pick one up. But no, very unlikely.....

Also, any one think this crushes dreams and expectations of the next iPhone(OS)? If their tablet... Which is supposed to be the answer to netbooks doesn't have multi-tasking, why would a cellphone? :(

I think it's hard for those us that already have an iPhone or iPod touch to justify getting an iPad since there's no additional functionality we're getting for an extra $500. You are basically paying $500 for a bigger screen.

For the nay-sayers: There's nothing wrong with saying "nay" - but do wait until, first, you've tried it with your own hands (that was a game changer for a lot of people with the iPhone and I suspect will be again) and second to see what apps emerge down the line - they may surprise you.

I'm working on one such app myself.
