Today I actually cut a 1/2" thick plywood board to the exact dimensions and even sanded the beveled edges into it and painted the back silver and the front black. I even stuck an apple logo on the back. It's almost real! Now I have a good feel of how big it is and I can now make my stands to hold it when i'm using it.:)

Pictures please!

I know.... its sad. I need help. :D

Yes you do.:p

I couldn't help myself. I look at it every night in it's future easy access end table holster. My wife thinks I'm nuts!!!!!!!:apple:

She is correct, you are nuts.;)

I suggest you contact the other 2 posters I quoted. You all should be in therapy together!:D

I didn't bother making a cardboard iPad but I did find a book in my house that happens to be very close in dimensions (weight and height/width size, but not thickness) to an iPad, so have been using it as my "model iPad" for testing out various things. I'll be SO glad to get the real iPad in my hands!

I made one too. But I have no excuse. I'm 42 years old. Way too old for this $#%. And I'm a female. I think I lost my right to bear acrylics a few years back, when I first hat to file my nails down because the Mac keyboard has flat keys.

u guys are nuts!

but i love the piece of plywood - u should print out what the other guy printed and stick it on the front! :)

yep!!! totally did as soon as it was released :) It was just nice to get the form factor idea. But it got only after about 45 minutes. And my wife made fun of me. HAHAHA

This thread inspired me to make one - made a VIDEO of my son playing with it. People on Facebook aren't too smart, they think it's real :) even after I told them I made it.

I made one, but just to test interface sizes and what feels "right" in your hand as far as UI goes.

Well played.

I actually made a carboard cutout of the 24" iMac when it was announced - just to see if it would be too big for my desk.

I didn't make it anywhere as detailed as these iPads though!

You've seen Back to the Future movies, right? Remember Doc Brown's line, "pardon the crudity of this model"? LOL!!!!!

I just received my Waterfield Sleeve to protect my new iPad and when I pulled it out of the box, it really brought home what size this thing will be.
