Who has a MacBook Pro C2D with NO issues?

I think this is worth noting because, as the old saying goes, the people who have problems tend to talk the loudest.

Who has purchased one of the new, Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros and has NO issues? No uneven screen brightness, the screen closes flush, etc.

I'm not saying there aren't machines out there with problems. I've ordered mine and will of course chime in on one side of the fence or the other when I receive it (and it'll be shipped back to Apple in a heartbeat if I have problems -- I ordered a stock config just for that reason).

I just think it's hard to get a good idea how reliable these new machines are if (it seems) the majority of people actually posting about them are having problems. My guess is a lot of people who are perfectly fine with their purchase are too busy using their new MacBooks.

I can't say ive had any issues in terms of screen, battery or ANYTHING related to mac. My only problem exists within Parallels and getting USB support with the newest laptop. (see my post in "Windows On A Mac").

everything else has been fabulous: Bootcamp, wireless, application installing.....EVERYTHING ELSE IS GREAT!

The MBP that I have is flawless and has none of the issues I have read about on these forums. There is an occasional tiny clicking sound from the HD but after some research it looks to be totally normal.

I had 3 MB's that all were returned. They were awful machines. This machine is simply unbelievable to me. Makes the MB look like a degenerate redheaded stepchild. To me anyway.

I ordered a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro 2.33GHz the morning they were announced, and it was delivered October 30. I have had exactly one problem with it.

I've been using it virtually all day every day since. Mostly I've been using Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Adobe Lightroom, Final Cut Pro, Parallels, Pages, and Dreamweaver MX. I attach it to an external monitor at home which I disconnect frequently to take on the road. I used Frontrow to present a couple of slideshows. My Parallels usage has been pretty light, just for Microsoft Money.

The glossy screen is evenly lit and has a much better vertical viewing angle than my daughter's MacBook. The screen closes flush, unlike my Powerbook G4 1.5GHz in which the corners of the screen bent away just a bit.

The one problem was with the remote—it simply didn't work. I took the battery out and replaced it with no success. Then I took a small screwdriver to bend the battery contacts in a bit, and it has worked fine since.

Ordered my 15" MBP with matte screen, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD the morning they were announced. I received it on Wednesday, November 1st, two days earlier than expected. There is always the remote nagging feeling after reading the forums of the potential "problems" you may possibly have.

I am elated that my MBP is just about flawless. I say "just about flawless" because it still is new and something may show up but to date, I have no issues.

No dead/stuck pixels and the screen is evenly lit
Absolutely no noise from HDD, fans, or from any other source
Temp not a problem, both fans running at 2,000 RPM & the temp is 123.8 F
Screen closes flush on all sides, no variance
Audio is experiencing no problems
And it is fast, starts up from time power button is pushed to completely up and running in less than 20 seconds, probably closer to 15 seconds

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I am a little afraid of saying this, but I do have a no problem MBP C2D, no heat, no wooo or stange sounds, no bad pixels, no problem with sleep returning, nothing, even an excelent wi-fi reception, much better than my former laptop (Vaio).
I can add, is the better looking, high perfomance, stream designed notebook ever, I really love it, and I hope that it keep without problems.

My C2D 15" MBP has been perfect so far. No dead pixel, not whine, no unusual noise, no extreme heat issue, and etc. I think my wait for C2D really paid off. I was turned off the CD MBP so much (multiple posts on their heat, noise, and other problems) and I was also disgusted with its slow Office 2004 and CS2 performance when I tried CD MBP at the Apple Stores.
The way Apple is manufacturing C2D MBP is also reassuring. It seems Apple is not rushing the production lines just for the sake of spitting out MBP as quickly as possible at the expense of QC. It looks like it is keeping the production schedule constant to maintain the QC as I see many people are still waiting for their C2D MBPs.

I just bought a stock 15" Matte 2.33GHz C2D MBP and I have no issues to speak of.

I think I do see what some people describe as uneven brightness, but it isn't really noticeable to me..... I think the lower right hand corner of the screen looks like it might be a little less bright, but it's just by shades of degree, and I think it has more to do with the viewing angle of anything (if I look directly at this area, it is fine).

In terms of practical use, the lighting is excellent.... and I'm pretty sure it isn't typical uneven brightness anyway; when I display a full black screen, it is all even and the blacks are actually very black. On my LCD's which do have uneven lightning, I can easily see backlight bleeding on a black screen (even my Dell 2005fpw screen has this issue).

I can't help thinking the "uneven brightness" thing might be getting sort of blown out of proportion, frankly. Or maybe some do just have more of a problem than others. But all I can say for sure is that the only thing I notice is that one corner of the screen seems like it might be one or two shades darker than the rest of the screen, but it's only noticeable if I really look and concentrate on it.

I would also be very interested in hearing about your experience thus far. I am going to switch over to the same exact machine you have, but I have to wait until Christmas :-(

I can say I have a MBP C2D that seems to be trouble free now *knocks on wood*. The first one I got was for the most part as well but had some build quality issues on the casing. This one is solid as a rock it seems. There is some uneven backlighting but that seems to be the norm on the matte MBP displays. I use it hooked up to an external most of the time anyways so I'm not bothered by it. It will only bug me if I obsess over it haha. Perhaps Apple will offer people new screens down the road for this... who knows. If they do great but if they don't then whatever haha. As long as it stays free of dead pixels I'm happy!

I consider myself to have one with no issues. Bought it the day they arrived in stores (2.16 model, matte screen). The reason I say consider, is that I'm sure to some very picky people they would say there are issues (lid not sitting completely flat when closed, possibly a slight backlight issue with the lower left of screen). However to me those things don't effect my day to day use of it so I am very happy with it.

I think there is some truth in the statement about the viewing angle. If I look stright on at the right side of my screen it seems pretty much normal brightness. It is probably a mixed bag of some uneven backlighting and the way the matte screen handles viewing angles. Good observation.

I can yes. Will do that later tonight if I think about it.

As for my experience, so far I'm in love with the thing. Fast, quiet (unless gaming, but still not "loud"), fairly cool (also unless gaming), no real issues other than learning a new OS. Any other questions just ask.

No major issues here. Just a couple of slightly misaligned keys that are not even that noticeable:

-left shift key is a tad raised on its right side
-"j" key is a slightly depressed

Again, these are not even noticeable. Also checked the demos at my local Apple Store and all of them, I mean ALL, have slightly misaligned keys that the human eye won't immediately notice and the human intelect wont mind.

I must say kudos to Apple for a great product overall. I am very happy with it that I take it to work with me everyday!

I've had my new 15" C2D (2.33GHz/3GB/160GB) since last Wednesday. So far, it seems perfect. No problems that I've seen. (Also, haven't noticed any dead pixels although I haven't actually run a pixel checker.)

I have taken some heat on this forum before because I have returned many an Apple portable (and an iMac C2D) for having dead pixels. It is not an acceptable thing for me on a $2,000+ computer. Here's the problem though. If Apple did institute a zero dead pixel policy, the costs would skyrocket. Your $2000+ computer would become a $3000-4000+ computer.

There's always going to be a tradeoff there.

This idea that because the computer is $2000 then that means no dead pixels should be allowed doesn't really work; do you think that if you go buy a $3000 Sony Vaio SZ premium and discover a dead pixel that they'll replace it just because you spent $3000 on it? More likely than not, the answer is no. At best you might get them to accept a return without a restocking fee, if bought through them directly.

I am happy to say I orderd a C2D 2.33ghz/15.4"/2gb/160gb/matte the day after they were announced.

So far I have had no problems, issues, or complaints with it at all.
No dead pixels, no uneven closing, no heat (it's cooler than my old G4 powerbook), no noise (the CD drive is actually quieter than my old G4 powerbook too).

It's awesome! I'm so glad I waited.
