rMPB 2015 13"
first picture is plain black image, backlit 50% in full dark room
second and third one - view from angles
the last one in 100%

I understand it is not very good, but most of laptops have even worst bleeding (razer, hp, dell XPS are much more worst comparing to average apple) so I would live with it!

I inspect all machines we buy when they arrive and so far I haven't noticed any blacklight bleed on any of our 2018 machines. Then again, I test them under normal circumstances and not locking myself into a dark cellar.

furthermore, you can calibrate/adjust brightness... And even in movies there is no plain black color. So you can not even see it 99% of a time using your mbp.
Of course, there are some awful examples that is totally unacceptable!

Many will use their machines normally from the get-go but what will trigger the problem is when they decide to use them to watch a movie at night, in the dark. That's when the backlight bleed will rear its ugly head. Sure you're fine right now but if your machine has bleeding it will show at some point...unfortunately beyond the exchange period for some. Fortunately, the 2018's seem to have great LCD's with barely noticeable to none backlight bleeding.

Pre-checking for backlight bleed in the dark is always a must for me! I might not use my machine to watch movies all the time but when I finally do, I do not want to regret my purchase.

The first image is a true representative to actually seeing your screen in complete darkness (I'm assuming it's on max brightness). The rest shows an exaggerated bleed due to camera exposure. Your machine is actually not bad but mine is better (and so are the other ones I got to inspect at my friends'). In my observation, 2018 MBP's have lesser to none backlight bleeding so exchanging your unit will get you a good chance of getting a better one.

UPDATE: Oops, sorry. but you did mention you have a 2013. Yes, unfortunately, 2013's have widespread backlight bleeding but to be frank, yours is really not that bad based on the first image. Just compensate by turning your brightness down and that slight bleeding will not be that noticeable.

I always left my brightness on auto, so it is not noticeable even in full dark when watching movies.
P.S. mine is 2015 rMBP)

My 2018 15" is perfect. Also I have an old 2012 15" rmbp, that one is also perfect as well.

In fully dark room? Please post photos if you can. Ive never seen one completely without backlit bleeding. It is the nature of LCD technology. The other side, that it is actually not noticable unless you are in dark room and backlight tuned to 100%!

I've looked at my 13" MPB 2018 TB in the dark and ran a youtube test. No bleeding looks perfect.
Youtube video is actually not showing pure black. Try photoshop fill the image with 0, 0, 0 color and see.
[doublepost=1551151122][/doublepost]when I am watching movies on auto backlit I also see zero bleeding

Just picked up a brand new 15" MBP this morning. Checked for blacklight bleed and I see zero.
If you send a picture taken in dark room with black background, i can Show you at least 2 bleed points of your monitor. How can you notice zero bleed... i think your display has bleeding but you could not notice that

First thing I did was check for backlight bleed on mine.

None. Absolutely zero.

There are colorshifts along the corners that goes away when I move further from the screen, but other than that the screen is gorgeous.

Don't be afraid to check yours and definitely return it if it exhibits backlight bleed. The way the panel is fused with the top assembly should mean zero blb, and if it exists it could mean faulty assembly.

you could not notice the bleed

Hate to bump this old thread but is this backlight bleed or something else? I noticed three purple dots when on a black screen (only in the dark is noticeable).
