Quick question for you guys. I'm looking to replace an older P4-3ghz PC running Windows Media Center with a silent Mac Mini. Sounds great. The ONLY thing I do with it is stream VIDEO_TS DVD's to it.

My main concern is that with my Media Center PC is that I set the machine to scale everything up to 1080. I'm guessing that with the onboard video card on the Mini that I wouldn't be able to do this. How do you guys find the picture coming out of this onto an LCD or Plasma?

Thanks

Josh

The mini will scale up to 1080i I believe?

And DVD PLayer (and therefore FrontRow) won;t currently play Video_TS folders. However, it is a feature of DVD Player in Leopard.

Yes, DVD Player does. I don't think there's any upscaling going on but they look fine on my 37" 720p LCD TV. It's certainly not HD, but pretty good DVD quality.

DVI to S-Video adapter. $20 at an Apple Store. I have audio running to my stereo via line out RCA cable.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have just taken the plunge into Mac Mini Media Centre land, and so far it's pretty cool.

@GimmeSlack I notice that you (like me) have it connected to an analogue TV. Can you tell me how that looks? I know small text isn't that great, but my desktop is slightly smaller than the TV screen and offset to the right a bit, and not entirely "square". I remember you used to have a "geometry" setting in Displays with VGA monitors, but it's not showing up for me. How does yours look?
