Why didn't the UI automatically get rid of the misting/fogging up windows on its own?

I personally think the OS/UI should be aware enough to adapt so that you don't need to actually physically press the buttons yourself. I'm not arguing if there should or shouldn't be physical buttons, but that the vehicle OS/UI should be smart enough to resolve these issues without requiring driver input.

So, adding CarPlay should not be the end all for the development of a good user experience. Especially with the prices of vehicles these days...

Its a ten year old car so doesn't have the technology in it to autoatically detect condensation on the windows. My wife has an EV and you can pre-set the temp which is great. If you forget to do that though, youre still pressing buttons to adjust temp and fan speed, that if the infotainment hasn't decided to reboot 4 minutes down the road like it sometimes does. One of the musts for our new car will be physical buttons for certain operations and its good to see manufacturers mostly keeping these as standard.

I’ve owned plenty of them. My first car had no glove box lid, centre console or door bins. Literally nowhere to store anything. I could fill it up with petrol for around £12. Less after the accident!

To be honest I was thinking more about how you can tell what model of Porsche someone bought (or how much the paid for options) by how many of the buttons are missing in the cockpit.

Ah. I did have this issue with my 2017 Ram, but I remember my 2008 B7 A4 seemed to automatically get rid of fogged up windows on its own (I believe it had a humidity sensor). If the A4 didn't, I honestly don't remember ever having to mess with the AC controls, I just set it to 71 degrees year around. My Ram didn't have automatic digital temp control; I was constantly playing with the HVAC settings.

Your wife's EV's OS/UI sounds terrible. It sounds like the example I'm talking about that really needs to step up the OS/UI. Physical buttons or not, Carplay or not, there needs to be a good foundation of an OS/UI.

I always drive with the AC on usually at 21⁰ and find that is more than enough to keep the everything crystal clear.

I wouldn’t have the range on my occasional long journeys for that. That’s when the nice physical buttons come into their own. No messing on the infotainment system.

You could use that as a reason to get a iX3. I heard it was able to go 1000km on a single charge.

I could, but Mrs AFB would kill me. TBH I don't do that many long journey's, so I'll keep my i3s for at least another 3 years. That will be 6 years total and we will see where we are.
Most weeks I only go into the office once a week, so I don't really want to drop £70k to sit on the drive most of the time.

Indeed, but you know what they say. Happy wife, happy life. After 27+ years of marriage, I guess I live by that.
