So gutted I updated, I've no idea how this one works at all... Can't quote anything, and it crashes every time it opens. Used to be so good. Anyone have an idea what all the different icons are at the bottom, 2 sets of them?
If you've not updated yet, I would strongly advise not to, just yet. It's not working properly and it's confusing as hell

It isn't so bad, just takes a little getting used to...but I agree that it could be a bit more polished. I happen to like the old one better as well.

you can't see the split between posts either when you scroll down as clearly as you could. Everybody's posts blend into one. How do you quote on it? I've pressed all those icons below and have no clue what any of them are?

And has anyone worked out why the app reviews on the iPhone are still oldest first instead of newest first for months and months.....? That's abysmal work from Apple too

Who here has updated to that awful new Tapatalk

Strange 'upgrade'. More clicks to get to the forum menu as they removed the bottom bar and gone with a side swipe that's hidden. You also don't have a time stamp anymore in your subscribed topics.

it's that bad I won't be using it again. they used to say, 'quote', etc. when you clicked on each post, doesn't now, and the way they blend into one another, you can't see the divide from poster to poster. It's shocking. No wonder it's free now. I remember paying for it!

Any recommends for an alternative now?

i hate it too

im going to doungrade back to the original

now how do i remove the app from the update section of the appstore?

Also where are the individual settings for forums? Where are the different color schemes?

The bottom bar that expands with the arrow offers redundant functionality and some not even useful at all. What's the point of having the app offer to launch a thread in Safari? If I wanted that, I wouldn't be using the app!

This "upgrade" removed features I liked. This is just silly. Plus you'd think they even tested the fonts in iOS 7, I can't help but state at the cancel and reply labels and see how they're not even lines up properly in the buttons, but I suppose that's just cosmetic.

Also another thing I noticed that I really hate.

Whenever I would post a reply with the first Tapatalk, it would take me to the end of the thread where I'd see my post. This one does the same thing, but the difference is that in this version clicking the "back" button at the top left takes you OUT of the thread entirely instead of back to the page and post you were just reading when you hit reply.

That is so annoying b

I just upgraded as well.. I still have mixed feelings about it.

As for how to quote, I can answer that for you as I just learned. Tap on the post you want to quote and it turns blue. Then tap the button on the top right to create a reply. The message you tapped on originally will be quoted in the new post.

Colour to diferentiate is the biggest nause, because I use it for 3 forums, and I can't see the break between people's posts without scrolling to top to keep reminding where the breaks are and who said what. It's awful. But that list on the side for each forum was laid out so much better previously too.

And those stupid arrows if a thread goes onto more than one page, they cover the posts you're reading? We managed before without those stupid arrows covering text we're trying to read, so why introduce them now?

Thanks, it used to actually say 'quote' previously didn't it. There are a lot of unhappy people in the App store, unsurprisingly. Major update it did not need. Few changes yeh, maybe. But this...

When was this update released? The App Store says it was last updated July 30th.

If you're referring to tapatalk 2, well that was released quite a while ago.

I'm not "downgrading" my Tapatalk.

The new update is 2.0 to the original tapatalk

And it looks like tapatalk 2 with some missing features

A lot of people including me tried tapatalk 2 & did not like it
So we went back to the original tapatalk
Now that is gone

Really? Just press the post you want to quote and hit reply on the top right ?! The new version is really good and I'm glad that they updated the old clients to the new platform... Would you rather have no support on the old app and then needing to buy the new version?

I bought the original Tapatalk for iPhone about year ago, later I bought Tapatalk 2 and after few days of testing I went back to original Tapatalk because the Tapatalk 2 sucks!
Now they are destroying the old good Tapatalk with this "upgrade" the call original?

Those guys who make Tapatalk are from Korea, I'm starting to think they are from North Korea! This "upgrade" makes NO sense at all!

Hah! probably....

Remind me... When you attached a pic from photos in iPhone you clicked on thumb and saw it at size, FIRST? Yes?

Now you click thumb and it gives you the size options but you can't view pic first before you commit, only the thumbs. That's crappy too. Every day I find something else they've rubbished.

Exactly. Everyday I hate the app even more.

Reading the tapatalk forums I don't think the devs care about all the bad sentiment of the new version

Now with 2.0.1 I noticed another bug. Sometimes going into a thread it won't refresh the posts, it just keeps stale cache data. You have to pull down to refresh to see new posts. This is terrible.

I discovered this because I went into a thread where it showed the last post was mine, but the list of threads/topics showed another user as having made the last post. I pulled to refresh and sure enough, there were the missing posts.

So the other Tapatalk 2 app on the App Store has different features than this one?

If this wasn't posted you quote by tapping on the comment you want to quote and then tap on the comment button on the upper right hand corner.

I like the redesign but don't like how they implemented the redesign. This kinda feels like Whatapps, how they went free.

Here is the reason for the "free" Tapatalk app.
They are going to force AD's in it!

Monetization for Forum Owners – Tapatalk to begin testing ad formats

Dear Forum Owners,

We are excited to announce that Tapatalk is going to begin testing a free version of Tapatalk and in-app ads as a way to help you make money from mobile traffic.

Moving from a paid app to a free app

We recently started to offer the Tapatalk app for free for iOS devices. Since we began to test the free version, we are very happy to report a significant increase in downloads.

Testing ad formats

In the next few days, we will begin to test ad formats on Tapatalk. The ad formats will be integrated within topics, and there will be three formats; banner ads, app installs, and “Promoted Topics” (similar to Facebook’s Promoted Stories).

During this initial phase, we will be testing technical integrations. The frequency of ads will be very low, and many of your users may never see an ad.

You can view screen shots of the ad formats here

After the test

We expect the test phase to run 30-90 days. At the end of test, we will have a good understanding of the performance of the various ad formats. We will also determine the revenue model, and we will retroactively share the ad revenue from the test period with you.

We are excited about helping you earn money from users accessing your forum through Tapatalk. Over the next few weeks, we will provide you updates on the test and will monitor and respond to feedback on the Tapatalk Engagement and Monetization support forum.

If you prefer that your Forum not participate in the pilot, please email me at eric@tapatalk.com

Are we, the people who paid for this also going to see these poxy ads? Yet another kick in the teeth from Crapatalk!

Totally agree about the updating of threads and messages, they don't!

And why am I being taken to the end of a 4 page thread when it's one I've not seen before? It used to take you to where you last left it, had you been there before. If you hadn't it was the beginning.

Update lousy. No difference by the way.

There is a thread on here about iPhone 5 battery life that was merged I believe. That used to open on here before the update because its in my 'participated'. Since the update it refuses to open. Have tried many times, Anyone else had that?

I've noticed that searching for a thread produces similar results. If you search for a thread and tap on it in the results, you get the network error screen. If you find it in the list of posts, however, it will load just fine.
