Who here is not updating to 3.1 or iTunes 9?

With AT&T never going to offer tether free I'll be on3.0 forever. I use about every other day

Not true. Upgraded to iTunes 9 but did not upgrade to 3.1 on my 3G and the benm tethering still works. Dunno where you're reading that, but I dont see any reason why you should think that an iTunes update would break tethering profiles on your phone.

+1. I updated to iTunes 9 as soon as it hit the tubes, and have been tethering since then with no problems. It's my only source of internet right now.

If my phone isn't jailbroken and I don't tether, is there any other reason not to upgrade to 3.1?

I updated to iTunes 9 yesterday afternoon, but will not upgrade to 3.1 until the dev team says it's cool to do so.
