I'll buy it with 1 day battery life.

I charge my phone daily, what's the harm in charging a Watch?

How lazy are people becoming? Takes two seconds, and you don't even need to orient the charger a certain way. This world is in trouble.

I'd rather have one day battery life than a 1" thick watch that I only need to charge once a week.

The following doesn't hold for quartz battery powered watched or solar/motion charged electrics. However, the traditional automatics have a movement wound spring in them and many of them require special winding spinning devices at night to be guaranteed that you don't lose the time by morning. And a lot of watch enthusiasts are into the automatics. So 1 day battery life isn't a new thing for many popular watch designs.

I doubt it. I like my current watch too much. Had it 3 years and still day one like it. solar atomic. no battery changing / charging. no need to set the time.

Overnight, no. The "Power reserve" on most automatics is at least 3 days. A lot are more. One of mine is even 10 days.

Ditto. I charge my iPhone and pebble smartwatch every night, and so I'm used to this.

The big issue is that, if I forget to charge (e.g., I fall asleep on the sofa), I can easily make that up by charging my iPhone using a USB battery. I don't even have to make up charging my pebble, because it has a multi-day battery; I just charge it as usual the next night.

My big question mark with the apple watch is that I probably can't do that. I'll probably have to somehow charge the apple watch during the day, which means that I can't be using it for some amount of time. Now, if it recharges quickly, I can probably do that while getting ready in the morning. If it doesn't, that's going to be a problem.

Sounds like a product idea: watch band with a built-in extra battery charger.

I have a Sinn, Seiko and stowa automatic. High, medium and low price pts. They often die after wearing all day and being left off a spinner at night. I know what I'm talking about here.

I love watches, but I need to know more about it. I will never buy a 1st gen product. Plus, I want to see if it's a success.

Also, I don't care for the bubbly design.

I've been using a Metawatch and a Pebble for a few years now and find them quite useful. I'll probably buy the Apple watch when it comes out.

Ifools.. Nuff said. Let's be honest with ourselves. If there wasn't an Apple logo on it we would be trashing this pos left and right.

I intend to get a watch sometime, but probably not gen 1.

I really think 1 day of battery is fine. I'm fine with charging things overnight, and because it's every single night, it's a habit that I don't even have to think about it.

Yeah, I don't have any experience with those brand. But the automatic world is vast and the great majority have much more power reserve. If not, they'd be considered failures. I would rather not explain my experience here in a public forum. If you are interested in learning more, I'd suggest a subscription to watchtime magazine. Its an easy way to educate yourself quickly.

I plan to pre-order on Day 1. The 1-day battery life is not a problem in my book; the benefits as I perceive them outweigh the inconvenience of daily charging. :apple:

My only concern is in 2-3 years, when the battery can no longer power the watch for a "day" (13 hours is what I actually anticipate). Then what? Will the Apple Store offer a battery replacement while you wait? I hope so! :(
