I've been very pleased with my RX100 II. Sure, the IQ isn't in the same league as my D800 but it's good.
I'm not fond of the controls. Most reviewers haven't been either, but I did dig down and assign enough functions so that it pretty much does what I want.
I found the Sony software to be useless, and hard to remove once installed. The Nikon Capture software I have on my computers will unload jpgs from the Sony, but not the raw images. I'm not sure why this is but I don't care, because I only work with the the raw images in LR 5, which unloads them just fine.
If I had a lot more money than I do I'd probably sell the II and get the III when it comes out, because with a camera like that I prefer to go wider than the II can go. I don't think I'd miss what's lost at the long end of the new lens, and the speed would be nice.
