I run YouTube on Brave on iOS these days. It's nice to not see the crap.
He's not complaining about the content of the videos
If your TV signal goes out while watching Love Island do you call the producer?
Bad analogy.
If your TV sound quality sucks, do you blame the broadcaster or your device?
Is it improved in iPadOS since it now should be loading the desktop site?
I have heard this many times but as using my ipad air 3 as my 1st ever apple device i like safari it is fast
And download manager is a welcoming feature in ios 13 i dont know why people dont like safari
For me it is very fast and thats all i need
On my android phone i use uc brower though
Safari is a great browser on Macs and on iPads/iPhones.
I use it for most things but I'm using Brave for more these days, particularly YouTube.
We are not talking hardware here.
I simply just wonder if it is a safari or a youtube problem.
Now on top there is a new problem.
I started getting this logo (see pic) if i try to watch you tube in full screen... it happens after watching a few clips.

I use Brave to watch YouTube on iOS these days. The UI is a bit more work but the absence of ads is just so nice.
Irrelevant to me - I’m on YouTube Premium. Besides, the thread’s primarily about youtube in Safari. I know you have a working solution but OP seems to still want updated info on using Safari instead.
I do have an ad blocking profile setup on my iPad to minimize advertisements in Safari though but I can’t comment on how effective it is in Youtube since I don’t deal with ads there anyhow.
I only use youtube in safari on desktop mode on both phone and ipad.
I have only had the problem on ipad But yesterday the same problem start happening on the iphone as well.
If i skip a few seconds after a few times the screen will go black and after a refresh the screen will show the logo i show you before on top of the movie.
There are so many problems... for years i have had a blue banner warning me i am in desktop mode on top of the screen in you tube. ... every page you go to on youtube you have to press to remove the annoying blue banner.
After watching a few videos you tube will freeze and i have to refresh... after refresh the layout in you tube change to one with no pip or full screen controls and a dark playbutton you can not see because of dark screen and the skip forward and back buttons disappear.
Only when i press my link in the favorites it goes back to normal ... but also back to the you tube front page.
So you have to go in history and play the video again.
I still wonder if it is safari or youtube that is the problem.. I assume it is google trying to destroy the experience for apple users. Pushing people to their app.
I think ipad 12.9 deserves desktop mode
(and the overview it gives) you tube and not their crappy app.

The overview on app and mobil browser mode is horrible.. on ipad 12.9 it is a complete waste of screen space.
It is impossible to block ads on the YouTube, you must pay their subscription. I am also very pissed about this and I asked around and I got confirmation it is not possible, even with solutions like Weblock, AdGuard & Pi-Hole. They kind of embed the ad within the video, apparently and we don't have access to the URL to block it. That what I understood.
I used to have a Youtube app (ProTube?) but it was not supported anymore and I think it disappeared even from my iCloud account.
It is a kind of cat and mice game so I hope at one point someone will come-up with a nice solution to block ads you YT!

It is not impossible... i never had any ads on my youtube ... but then again I have to go through all this s... every day.
I use a free adblocker for safari and it works just fine for blocking all ads.
I wish I could just ignore the ads like everyone else... But I can not.
It is sometimes faster to just watch the ads than to go through all these jump and hoops.. but i do not watch video if I have to watch ads.
The same with instagram and facebook... I spend more time reporting ads than actually looking at facebook and instagram... I kinda hope everyone would do the same then facebook would crash from all the reports.
But it has become very natural for me to report the ads like it is for others to watch them... I really wish that people would report the ads instead of just ignore them... it takes about the same time.
I noticed that if you report something as fake news they tend to react faster than if you report as violence or sexual.
Oh yes the Youtube premium is not possible in my country.
I forgot to clarify: impossible to block ads in the Youtube apps. Yes I do use Safari and go to youtube.com but I experience the same bad user-experience than you describe. Quality and controls are much worst and I believe it is done on purpose to push people use the Youtube app and get the premium subscription. It is tits for tats.
I am happy to live far away from any google office or I would have gone Charles Bronson... I would have a restraining order for sure... maybe even spend time in jail.

Google never respects Apple platforms. You should see how bad YouTube and YouTube TV apps are on Apple TV.
Google doesn’t use the native tvOS video player like every other app for tvOS does. They’ve developed their own video player. And I see why they did. It’s like in the YouTube and YouTube TV apps you can browse for a bunch of other videos while you’re watching a video. You can’t currently do that in any other app on tvOS. But the downside is because you’re not using the native video player, the one Google has developed it’s really hard to use the remote trackpad to move forward or backward in the video you’re watching, Like if you are watching YouTube TV and want to skip commercials.
I’m really looking forward to the Apple TV+ service and am hoping I can eventually use it to replace YouTube TV. But there is no competitor for YouTube currently and it will probably be years before there is one.

Well then wait for full iPadOS desktop class safari support. Currently YouTube app on iOS is broken. IMO YouTube has deliberately broken Filters on the App when Not Signed In.
I never sign in to YouTube because it’s content algorithm is absurd you watch one Gymanstics video and YouTube thinks you are a gymnast from now on.
I think they have broken filters on purpose to either add them as a paid feature.
