iOS 6.1 seem to have severely compromised my iPhone battery thereby making decision for S4 even easy

One might even argue before Apple's announcement... as credible leaks come out, the reconciliation and adaption begins.
Brilliant... this made me laugh :)

Very true, in fact the battery life degradation was so bad on my iPhone 5, after "updating" to 6.1, I immediately checked it against my wifes yesterday since our usage patterns on friday are light... sure enough hers battery life is compromised as well.

This is what I seriously dislike about Apple's "upgrade now but you can't go back", propensity to attempt to force these upgrades on us.
If apple does decide to produce a larger iPhone they'll make it the specific size required so the apps can scale properly. Similar to what they did with the ipad mini.

That's my guess.
I'd say your correct. It seems the most logical option for them, even if, they don't always think logically :D

I am surprised its going to be called S4 anyway (not that it is confirmed to begin with). Since the number 4 sounds like "death" in Korean and is considered bad luck.

Still a ways off for the USA.

Figure April or May for international and June or July for the USA.

Last year it was announced on May 3rd, and I had mine in hand June 25th. We'll have to see what happens, but I'm anxiously awaiting the S4 for sure!

No need for both. Id prefer a capacitive home button but oh well.

I think I would prefer the home button be both mechanical and capacitive.

On my note 2 I love that I can turn it on with the home button (well, with Quick Glance too I suppose).

But other times I wouldn't mind just being able to tap the home button like I do the other two buttons.

For sure I wouldn't want on-screen buttons like I had with my Nexus 4. I like having use of the entire screen on my Note 2, yet still have the nav buttons when I need them. One of the first things I did with my N4 was find a way to hide the buttons--but that only led to work-arounds to replace them (albeit, several elegant work-arounds).

Galaxy S4 getting 'Orb' Photo Sphere-style app, report says

By Luke Westaway | 22 February 2013

Samsung's Galaxy S4 will be lifting a camera trick from the brilliant Google Nexus 4, if fresh rumours concerning the upcoming mobile are to be believed.

The South Korean tech giant's next flagship will play host to an app called 'Samsung Orb', Androidgeeks reports, claiming to have received word from an engineer within the Galaxy S4's development team.

The app will apparently take a 360-degree photo of your surroundings, which sounds very similar to the Photo Sphere app on the Nexus 4, which enjoys the feature as part of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

If the so-called 'Orb' app is anything like Google's own, you'll then be able to scroll around in it, like a Google Street View image. To take the photo you'd probably have to point the S4 at different points in your surroundings in sequence, which is how it works on the Nexus 4.

That mysterious source reportedly reckons Samsung is working closely with Facebook, enabling you to upload the panoramic shots just as you would a normal photo.

Samsung has confirmed nothing regarding its follow-up to the Galaxy S3, so take all of this with a pinch or two of good quality sea salt. I can see why Samsung would want to put its own spin on some of the photo tricks in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean however, as it offers smart phone owners some seriously snazzy tricks.

As well as Photo Sphere, you can turn your panoramic photos into tiny worlds, of the kind seen below. Samsung will be wary of Nexus devices' vanilla Android offering more tricks than their own mobiles, and will want to pack the Galaxy S4 with bespoke Samsung apps and features.

March 15th is when they will announce the S4 at an event in the US. That typically means the US will get it at the same time as everyone else. Even though last year we only had to wait a month for the S3 which wasn't too bad.

Didn't realise it was that close! Event added to my calendar :D

Edit: wait isn't it the 14th?

Grain of salt and all... but potentially a more square-y design:

"Here come the leaked Samsung Galaxy S IV cases, suggesting a rectangular design"
