I have always left my cell phones on. I think that 99% of the time, for the past 4 years, my cell phone has always been turned on and within 100 yards of me.

I imagine my iPhone will be on even more than my old phone - seeing as I now have an "airplane mode." I reset it on occasion, but that's about it.

Interesting. But why does one keep his/her iPhone on all the time?
Because if someone calls me late at night, it's almost certainly a family member with an emergency, and I'd want to get that call.

The only time I turn mine off is in a theater, because even buzzing is annoying, and since everything's going to go to voicemail anyway, I might as well conserve battery power for those two hours.

Was just curious, after reading some post on the iPhone, who leaves their iPhone on all the time?

I always turn mine off before I go to bed, but from reading the post here, a lot of owners leave their iPhone on.

Same here (turned off at bedtime) and leave it sleeping when not in use.
I must be doing something right because my phone's battery lasts 2 - 3 days before needing a charge :D

I finally had some problems with calls on my iPhone.

I restarted it and BOOM...all the problems went away

So, re-start your iPhone before you call Apple for problems.

2 Reasons to turn it off

1) At&t sends periodic updates to your iPhones - and in order for them to take effect, your phones need to be turned off. These updates can improve signal reception (among other things).
2) You will save battery life.

The alarm part, I could see, but why else?

I own two businesses and have my cell phone number as the primary contact with the alarm company. I also have my home alarm programmed with my cell phone, so when I'm out of town, I know what's going on and can call family or friend to check my house.

Last reason and my wife thinks it's a good reason... When I'm out with my friends late at night (sometimes leads to "early"... in the morning) it's a hotline so she can yell at me. :D
