I believe Apple ships the phone if I order from Apple. Verizon from Verizon.

If that's the case, we can choose whichever has a better shipping date. I wonder if Verizon is going to offer some sort incentive to order through them. What about the the dreaded Verizon fee for upgrading they always charge? Last time (2018) I had to call and express my disgust and then they removed the fee.

Interested in this deal as well since I will make out well trading in a lowly XR and upgrading to 12 pro. Does anyone know what the "eligible Unlimited service plan" in the fine print will be? I have unlimited but it is called "Go Unlimited" ($80 a month) and that isn't even an option on their site any longer. I just want to be sure they aren't requiring a more expensive unlimited plan (since they have several tiers) to take advantage of this deal. Does anyone know?

I thought there was always a fee to update your device. $40 through third party authorized centers, and $20 through a Verizon store / online. Every time wether through Verizon or Best Buy, I've had to pay a upgrade fee.

From what I gathered from reading the text on the Apple site, you have to be on a Verizon unlimited plan to get the trade in deal. Does anyone know if that"s the case?

Yes but twice in the past I have gotten the fee removed by calling and politely expressing why I feel the fee very unfair to a long time customer like myself. If you search this forum you will see may folks have done this. It's the rude people who never have success. Also, sometimes you get a rep who just won't help. In that case, people would just call back later and get a different rep who would remove the fee.

I too would like to know. Does an unlimited 4g plan work as well? I don’t plan on updating to 5g because of availability.

I will call Verizon and ask which unlimited plans are ineligible. I think that list would be shorter the which are eligible. I'll post what I'm told by the rep.

Great, thanks! My guess is that Verizon and apple are offering this trade in special with the upgrade to a 5g line.

If I just check trade in value of my 6S+ On Verizon’s site, it says $33...

Trade in credit for my X is $440 through Verizon compared to only $250 from Apple. I wasn’t planning on an upgrade but I saw $440, and here we are.

Does it require activation of an unlimited plan to get the $440? I'm in the same boat. I have an X. But I don't have an unlimited plan.

Is it better to go through Verizonwireless directly? Do they have better deals? Or to get that $440 credit from Verizon I have to order from apple?

If this is wrong information, please don't blame me. I'm just repeated what Verizon rep just told me. He said you can order through Apple or Verizon for the extra trade-in credit. That includes both regular consumer customers and business accounts. He said iPhone 12 will be available for pre-order in all channels on 10/16 at 8 AM EDT and will be available in-store starting on 10/23 at 8 AM local time. He said there is a $40 upgrade fee for accounts both consumer and business. He said they only have officially stated which unlimited plans are eligible for extra trade-in credit for business customers and have not released that information for regular consumer accounts yet.

Thanks! They should hurry up and release that info. The $40 upgrade charge is crap. But from my past experiences, it drops to $20 if you use Verizon’s site instead of a 3rd party like apple or Best Buy.

With 10/16 being this coming Friday, they will have to release that information today! I bet later today it will be available. In fact, he put me on hold when I asked. I bet he checked to see if he was allowed to tell me.

Just chatted with a Verizon rep who would not confirm anything for iPhone 12. Not even the deal on Apples website. She did state that their trade ins and the BYOD 450 gift cards do not stack. I guess the only reason to trade is to avoid the gift card route..?

Am I reading this right, from Apple's order flow page?? Verizon is paying less on a trade in for my iPhone 11 Pro than they are older devices??

All the carriers are paying more for your trade (assuming yours is not part of the lease / subscription model like JUMP, NEXT, JOD,etc)
But you have to sign up for a 30 month EIP plan which they lock you in....

Apple is less for your trade in phone but then they offer 24 months at 0% thru Citizens Loan or Apple Card. Then you have the power to pay it off early for next year's phone.

I will be switching our two lines from Tmobile to Verizon Unlimited very soon. I want to turn in our phones and get an Iphone 12 Mini and a 12 Pro Max.

In order to get the best deal that I can get by switching (550/phone+250 gift card) do I have to wait until the moment these new Iphones are available for preorder?

I'm worried since these are so popular that they will sell out quickly, so I would much rather not have to deal with switching to a new carrier and ordering the hones at the same moment.

But I also want to get the most for turning in my phones.

What do you all recommend? Thanks

I’m trying to trade in to Apple for the extra T-Mobile $150 gift card, and then switch to Verizon and BYOD for $450/line.

Why not straight to VZ? They offer $250 extra for switchers
What do you mean? It seems that it’s either up to $450 if you switch and BYOD (the $450 is only if you get their most expensive unlimited plan) OR you can do the trade in. I’m not seeing a way to get the $250 on top of a device trade in.

It's possible I misread it, but according to their website, as long as you're switching to an unlimited plan with 5G you can get up to 550 per device and an extra 250 gift card for switching.

because $150 + $450 > $250...
But you would get 450 for switching to Verizon too no?

I chatted with a Verizon rep and they said they did not stack. That’s for BYOD only.. doesn’t really make sense to me.
