Who uses Apple Mail?

This is a totally idle thread, nothing serious. Just wondering, who uses the native Apple Mail app for either iOS or MacOS. Many years ago, there was a time when I used it on iOS, but I never used it on MacOS and I've been a Mac user for well over 20 years.

On my mac, I always used browser email - whatever it was, even before gmail. On iOS, I initially used the native Apple Mail app for a couple of years, but then, since I'm on gmail, I just use the gmail app and never bother with the Apple Mail.

I ask, because of two reasons. One - I notice that on the iOS13 beta threads, there are always a lot of posts decrying how many bugs there are in the Apple Mail app, so I figure there must be a ton of people for whom it's super important, and who don't use things like the gmail app, and I wonder what's behind it. Two - I figure if there are so many fans of Apple Mail, maybe there are really good reasons and I'm missing out by basically completely ignoring the Mail app and only using the gmail app on iOS (my iPhone and iPad) and browser email on my MacOS High Sierra.

I use Apple Mail on macOS since the dotMac days (Eudora before that). It's good.

I used AirMail for a couple of years but I had a very serious problem with mails not being sent (without any warning or error) which caused me a lot of personal and professional problems (nobody believes you really sent the mail, it sounds like a 90s excuse)... so that very day, I switched back to Apple Mail and I've never looked back. No problems so far.

I sometimes have trouble with copy/paste in the iOS Gmail app and need to pull up the message in iOS mail.

I love Spark for iOS and macOS. Smart inbox sorting, snoozing, delayed send, and reminder system.

Edison email is great to get rid of unneeded subscriptions.

Apple Mail for mass deletion of email (I only archive my gmail accounts, then once a year or so I’ll use Apple mail to sort by subject or sender to mass delete.)

Apple mail also has the best search for when I need it.

Spark is the best by far... overall.

I use Apple Mail on both iOS and MacOS. Primary reasons:

- I use Outlook.com for personal mail, and a corporate Exchange account for work. Using Apple Mail I can access both in one app, and get real push email via Exchange Activesync protocol. I works very well and I have not encountered any major bugs (but I don't install beta OS versions on any device/computer that I actually use).

- I'm not a big fan of web mail because I can't work on my emails offline (e.g. on an airplane), and I obviously can't access accounts on different servers in an integrated way.

- On iOS, only Mail is fully integrated (e.g. if you want to send a mail from within another app)

- Privacy: I would never use a 3rd party mail app that stores my mail server credentials and/or email content on a 3rd party server, such as Spark or Airmail (and in case of my work account, the corporate IT security policy does not allow the use of such services anyway). These apps also typically include analytics SDKs that track your usage and who knows what else.

Apple mail on iPhone, iPad, iMac and MacBook Pro. Never had a problem with it and having tried many others like Spark, Airmail, etc. I always come back to it.

I use the standard Apple mail app on my iPhone and iPad hooked up to my Google Mail email account. Works fine for me even after i lost the push mail and have them both set to Fetch every 15mins. Had a few issues during the earlier public betas of iOS13 but been fine generally in the later versions.

I usually use Mail for sending email and gmail for reviewing the emails as those come in near real-time. I find that 15 minutes doesn’t always work reliably I miss push using Mail with gmail.

I use Thunderbird. Apple's mail never had the customization I wanted. I also like having a consistent UI whether I'm on Windows, macOS or Linux. Having to use a bunch of different mail clients would be annoying.

On iOS I used Apple Mail. Although I just tried Outlook on Android. It's the best mobile mail client I've ever used. Whenever I start using iOS again. I'll give the iOS version of Outlook a try. If only iOS let you set a default mail client.

It works well and does 99% of what you need it to do. I personally use Canary Mail for its nice UI, filters, email encryption and easy unsubscribing from mailing lists.

- It has full OS support on day 1, whereas Gmail took a year to support basic multi window support on the iPad.

I use mail on my mac, but only for work. For personal stuff, I have a gmail account. Don't know why, just wanted to fully separate the two.

I use both the ones in macOS and iOS from the first day I started using a Mac and iOS. There are highly annoying bugs in some releases, such as Yosemite and iOS 11, but I held on since other options are either for pay (and doesn’t offer me any extra things), or come and gone leaving users hanging.

I use the Gmail app on iOS (for the push notifications) and Mail on macOS. Neither are my favorite, but are the best current options for me. I was happily using Airmail on both platforms until they decided to go to a subscription plan.

For work, I have the Outlook app on my phone, so I can keep both completely separate.

I am currently using outlook instead of apple mail on 13.1 beta because the latter is a bug ridden mess. Emails aren’t formatting correctly and not downloading (spinning circle and no content)

they are perfect on outlook. I want to use apple mail as I hate using my credentials via a third party but it is unusable in its current state

I use it on iOS but its still extremely buggy even in 13.1 beta 4. It's making it hard to use full time versus something like Outlook which just works.

Gmail app is a non-starter for me, cannot use attachments from any cloud storage except Google Drive which I dont use (but it's Apple that's anti-competitive mmhmmm Apple has allowed all cloud storages to be accessed even if they compete with icloud drive for years and years)

Considering 13.1 is being released the 24th, this coming Tuesday, highly highly unlikely. This is the last beta before release.

I've always used Apple Mail on all my Macs and iPhones/iPads. I've never had a reason to use anything else.
