I use it on iOS and it's fine. The only thing I don't like is that the UI for using multiple accounts is a bit clunky, but it's not too bad.

Basically all 3rd party email clients are utterly unacceptable from a privacy standpoint. They either copy your password off to parts unknown, store your mail on their servers, or filter it through them to serve you ads or for other purposes.

I’ve been using Mail on iOS since 2008 and mail on Mac OS for 5 years. I’ve never had a problem. I don’t know why some are saying it’s buggy. It hasn’t been at all for me. WEIRD

I agree with others, before update 13.1.1 last night it was buggy with part of emails being unable to read as I couldn’t scroll all the way down to view.
Emails having to be opened twice to get rid of the new main blue dot.

I’ve not tried it since the last update so hoping these issues have been ironed out.

That's what I see. Badly formatted, not opening and not loading when they do open. Especially in IMAP folders bit inbox is not working right either

All perfectly fine in my webmail and in outlook

When it works it's good. Especially being able to have multiple identities but recently it is not good

And still buggy in new uodate

Never had a reason to switch from Apple Mail, which has always been reliable for me.

I've tried a couple other mail apps over the years, and they've had some nice frills and UI; but I always came back to Apple Mail.

Plus - Apple Mail is the default mail app; which goes a long way, partially because it can't be changed.

When Airmail went subscription (boo!) I switched back to Apple Mail. It's alright. I don't need or use poweruser features on my phone and tablet, so performance and UX wins out for me.

I use Outlook for work email and think it's a much better client overall, but prefer to keep personal and work separate.

I've looked at other popular iOS mail clients but they are all either subscription or use a middleman that holds/parses mail between my device and the server, and I'm not OK with either.

I always use Apple Mail on iPhone, iPad and Macbook. It brings what I really need and nothing more. Simple, easy to use, and it just works...

Although there are things that need to be fixed because of the ios 13.

IMO, Apple stock email app is just not good. They seem to be still keeping it just for the sake of giving users something to use. So far in iOS 13.1.2, the app is sluggish and has a bare minimum of functionality. I personally cannot find any reason of using it over Spark, Gmail, Outlook (Hotmail), Yahoo or any other 3rd party offerings.

Privacy of not allowing a third party access to my email is one major reason.

A major for some, insignificant for most. If your primary email address is Gmail, then Apple Mail is effectively third party.

Back to the OP, I find that Apple Mail just doesn’t work well with the Gmail system, so I use the Gmail app as my primary Mail app. Generally, I don’t use many 1st party apps anymore because there are usually better 3rd party counterparts

I use Apple Mail on all of my devices (MBP, iPP, iPhone) for my personal gmail and iCloud mail accounts, and use the Outlook app on all devices for my work email. It makes it easy to turn off work when I go on vacation.

Yes... it’s why companies are getting so big and powerful because they have data that people give away for free.

All that aside, seems reasonable for the app that always used to work fine to continue to work fine. Recently Apple seem a lot happier with releasing shoddy stuff. It’s over said but it wouldn’t have happened in Steve Jobs time

To be fair if you are using a consumer email service (Gmail, outook.com, yahoo, etc) you are already SOL on "true" privacy anyway in reality. How much they are or aren't doing with it is debatable beyond that fact.

The 3rd party app from a bigger company like say Microsoft (Outlook) wont change that much. The smaller companies I am more skeptical of as they have already been caught with their hand in the cookie jar (like Edison) and their response was oh well um we didnt say we werent reading your emails/Terms of Service/etc. Then changed it (so we are led to believe) to opt out. A fool me once thing to me.

The big companies have more to lose IMO than someone small like say Edison or Readdle (who isnt even in the US). More media exposure, Congress, etc to answer to.

I use the stock apps as well as Spark. The stock apps are very, very basic but they do the job and give the best user experience as they are native to the OS.

I use the Gmail app because I find it cumbersome to delete an email rather than simply archive it in the stock Mail app, it requires a few clicks to send to folder then trash unless I'm doing something wrong.

If I have an outlook 365 home email account and I use it in apple mail, is there any sync delay vs using the outlook email app?

Same applies to iCloud email account. Any benefit of using it over the native apple mail app vs other?

Used to use AirMail on iOS and macOS. but after the went to a subscription model with features I had previously paid for going into that subscription I moved to the stock mail app.

I use it on my iOS, iPad OS, and Mac OS (even on Watch OS when I still got that watch).

It’s simple, light, secure with adequate basic function.
I don’t keen on paying third party apps and never trust the fully free ones.
And most of the time, when you use Apple’s native apps on multiple platform, they work together well.

I only use Apple Mail and it works seamlessly across my devices. No complaints about the interface. Also not having any of the checking mail lag issues some users seem to be having.

Only use Apple Mail here; I don't trust my email going through 3rd party apps.

The only exception being Gmail, but I just prefer the availability and simplicity of Apple's mail app.

Why in the world would you trust Google? Their track record for honesty stinks. They are about making money off of you, whether you know and give consent or not.

Well, my main email accounts are Gmail; so I can't justly rail against Google email clients. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But my own personal confidence in Google feels greater than giving my account credentials to third party clients, such as Spark mail.

That really depends. Are you sending your parents emails with basic chit chat, or are you putting corporate docs or sensitive things through it? And are we talking Gmail or Google Apps?

I just dont think there is one universal answer. I couldnt care less if AI sees the chit chat nothing with my parents, or my Amazon receipts personally. There is nothing there I would be embarrassed about if any human even saw it really. Some people may not be ok with that. Im indifferent to that type of very mundane info if computer AI scans it.

Now my business email (some) is through Google Apps which you pay for so the rules are a bit different what they do or dont scan since its a paid service. So I dont really count that in the "gmail" context.

But it depends on the person really. Email is not secure inherently and if world events has taught anyone anything over the past years its not to put anything in writing (ANY writing) you wouldn't want someone to see to begin with. Even more so on a free email client as if you arent paying for the product you are the product.
