Yeah, it was my main reason to get the iPad. Of course the reasons have increased as more things attracted me. iWork, internet, movies, so many apps., games, etc. etc.

I am not a voracious reader, I've read some books on my iPhone, but I had my eyes on the Kindle. As soon as I heard about the iPad I decided to wait. I am glad I did.

I'll need to see how much I like reading on the iPad. I have a Kindle, Kindle 2, and a Nook, but I'd love to convert all my eBooks to the iBooks format and use one device.

The beauty of the iPad is you don't have to convert your Nook or Kindle books, because Amazon and B&N will have apps for their readers.

i've always been interested in buying an e-reader but the cost is very higher for so few features, with an iPad I'm actually getting my moneys worth

never understood the appeal of ereaders

books are just fine and you dont have to worry about battaries or anything

call me crazy

You can search electronic books. You can have instant dictionary lookup. You can carry large libraries of books without additional weight.

I'm not selling off my paper books anytime soon, but the advantages of eBooks are readily apparent nonetheless.

The problem that I have with the Kindle app is that it will likely not be the same "experience" as the integrated reader in the iPad. Also, I have a lot of non-Amazon purchased Kindle format books which can't be transferred across to the PC/Mac Kindle reader or the iPhone reader since they limit it to Amazon-purchased only.

I got the iPad with one priority as being a reader. I've removed the DRM from my Kindle books and they'll all be converted to EPUB for native iPad use. I also have removed the DRM from my library books (Overdrive) and they're waiting for the iPad as well. Now I just have to wait for the 3G to be released.

Exactly the same here.

Me! I never read. But I'm gonna try it when I get the iPad. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter sounds awesome.

I have about 10 books, on the Beatles and Genesis, that I look forward to buying iBooks on, hopefully...so I can donate the physical books to the library or sell on Amazon. I want my Mac Life and Mac World subscriptions available on the the iPad also so I can do away with the actual print mags and be more "green"...:D

So, yes, I look very much forward to doing more reading on the iPad.

I sold my Kindle DX just for iPad.

I read a lot of technical resources and the reason I got the Kindle DX is to view the PDF full size. It sucks horrible at it. iPad is already the best reader for PDF documents for me. I'll be reading everything on it as well as using technical resources for work at same time working on my main system.

Probably just to read a couple magazines; otherwise the Kindle is so much better for the eyes.

I was thinking about getting a Kindle, but the iPad is a much more capable device. I've never really tried an ereader, so I'm not sure how much I will use it. It will be nice to have my books with me all the time

This is THE reason I am getting the iPad.

I am on my second Kindle and look at the iPad as the next logical upgrade.

With Kindle app for iPad, Barnes & Noble for iPad, Stanza for iPad and the iBookstore itself being available it may finally be possible to have access to every possible ebook in existence!!

If only Sony would make an e-reader app... then it would be complete.

Sure, I'll use it for the web and such, but e-reading will be the number one use when I get it.

In fact, I have been holding out purchasing any new e-books until it arrives this Saturday!

I have a lot of pdf material. I used to print half a dozen at a time. If were to print all of the material I have stashed in my hard drive, I could buy lots of iPads instead. I want to buy an iPad, but I don't have a clue as to whether pdfs are combatible with the iPad out of the box and whether iBooks have DRM? What's ePub format btw?

Thanks a lot (First Post)
