I'm pleased as heck to see so many folks who enjoy owning and wearing a nice watch.

I have noticed that for some odd reason, you cannot seem to get the mechanical movement Bulova watches in the United states. They readily available in Europe though, according to the company's website

Any guesses on this, or is just that so many Americans have become accustomed to their watches being battery powered quartz movements?

I'm not sure why, but I can ask an expert I know. The watchmaker I work with has been repairing watches long than most of us have been alive. He is going on 83, been repairing watches since he was 17-18. If you don't get an answer soon enough, I'll try to ask him on Monday.

Nice:

Omega Seamaster (300 M Diver Chronometer, Steel/Blue, Steel Band)

Not as nice:

Hamilton H61411533 (Hamilton Khaki Action, Quartz movement, Sapphire Crystal, Crown protector, Steel/Black face, leather strap)

Cheers!

Ok, so I talked to the horologist at work today, and he said that Bulova sold out to ETA of Switzerland a few years back. Since then their quality has dropped and they just don't supply the U.S. with the high quality stuff.

Woops... The pocket watch is obviously not a Hamilton. It's a 1914 Howard. Sorry Great Grandpa!

I'm switching between this two for different occasions...

1. Breitling Chrono Avenger (Titanium automatic) with casual wear (left)
2. Breitling Emergency Mission with formal wear (right)

Mine. (All black G-Shock). Got it as a gift from a Japanese family I lived with during the summer. My only complaint about it is the weight. It's too heavy and big.

I have to say, neither Rolex nor Omega appeal to me. They're just too big and flashy (Rolex).

I did a ton of research in finding a high quality watch that could be passed down to my son as an heirloom. So in my search of an "heirloom" quality watch I ended up with a Rolex Explorer 1.

My Dad had the same idea around 35 years ago! I remember him paying around £25 (used, not new) in 1973/4 for what has become my watch.

Another one for the collection. Breil Globe. Feels enormous on my wrist but I love it :)

Its a mens watch, but they didn't have the womens version in the dark wood when I went, so I just bought the mens.

I've also got this one, but it turned out to be huge (ordered online) and the rubber gets so dirty really easily, I ended up trying to take a pencil eraser to it and eventually gave up. Its also a pain in the a$$ to resize, if anyone is looking into buying one.
