I can not believe that Apple is that greedy to make it so you have to max the iMac pro out the way you want it when u first buy it, that is so wrong. So it appears I will be waiting to see how they handle the new Mac Pro, and if they take away the configuration options on that as well , then I will be looking for A windows machine . I cannot believe that Apple is risking losing many users because of this. I really didn't want to go back to windows since I left windows in 2004. Bummer.

I would be surprised to see the "modular Mac Pro" going down a similar route as the iMac Pro or Trashcan MP where we have close to none DIY upgradability. It seems to me the iMac Pro and mMP are supposed to be positioned on polar opposite sides of the pro-space: one who just wants a machine that "werks", the other one who wants an almost completely open macOS machine.
