I still have my iPad 4 from 2012. Its still very usable, yes the air 2 is faster but I don't find the 4 slow. Still going good and don't plan on upgrading until air 3 I guess.

The iPad 4 is still going good. Had it since Nov 2012. Guess I will swap it for a cheap Air 2 around October time

We have an iPad air in the house but it's not mine. I still use my iPad 4 exclusively.
Thing is, the iPad incremental updates have been pretty negligible, feature wise, since the iPad 3.
Sure, tech wise, the A7 and A8 have been incredible jumps.
But feature wise, cameras have been the same, but theyve been non-killer features since the beginning anyway. The screens have always had 100% RGB retina screens. Still the same. TouchID on an ipad actually makes the smartcover unlocking more cumbersome. Meh.
The weight thing is a non issue to me. I think it's overblown.
I don't feel like I'm missing anything by staying with iPad 4.
This is different to the iPhones where each new increment has a killer feature that I would actually love to have.
I wouldnt mind a battery replacement though

At the time of purchase, I felt the iPad 4's faster processor increased its longevity. And I still think thats true.
But, we have had 64 bit processors since then (A7, A8), so maybe the iPad 4 will see iOS 9, but maybe not iOS 10 if Apple ditches updates for 32 bit.

Still have mine, since it was my first tablet.
It has been replaced by a Nexus 7 and now an iPad Air 2, though. I had meant to get the 4, but when 3 was so quickly replaced, I was worried about Apple's direction. A new model every year is just about fine, but eight months seemed awfully short to me.
I've got an iPad Air but I alternate between that and the iPad 4. The iPad 4 still works great. No noticeable slowdown compared to the Air for typical tasks (video streaming, web browsing, email, etc). Hoping for a 256GB iPad before upgrading.

I got an iPad 4 two days before the iPad Air was announced, but I ended up not regretting it. Sure the iPad is lighter and has 64-bit architecture, but that's pretty much as far as it goes. It has served me really well, and I've been using it as my main computer since, and I don't plan on upgrading unless there is a big change in the Air 3, and if not, the Air 4. Unless the iPad Pro comes out, which I hope it does, but only if it serves as a proper laptop replacement. All my friends have laptops, and I can't do a lot of what they do together with theirs. So yeah, that's what I want.
Same here. It can be a little laggy at times, but overall mine still functions decently.
I've had mine since Jan 2013. It was blazingly fast on iOS 6. Now on iOS 8, it is tolerable with lags, app closures, and frequent occurrence of multi-touch gestures not registering.
This will in all likelihood be my last iPad unless Apple does something radical with an iPad Pro. In that scenario, my wife will get my iPad 4 and I'll use her iPad 2 for another vintage TV remix.
After having the 1 and 3, I LOVED my 4! But after getting Touch ID on my iPhone I got frustrated. I would leave my finger on the home button and curse the darn thing for not unlocking for few seconds before I realized what device I was holding. I had a friend that offered me $400 for it right when the Air 2 came out. I had an old iPhone to trade in to Verizon also so I took that and the money and only spent $75 out of pocket to upgrade. If I had to pay a few hundred OOP then I would've stayed with the 4, but I got too good of a deal to pass up!
Still using my iPad 4 with the 8.1.3 update applied. Thas fixed the multi gesture problem. I don't think I'll venture past 8.1.3 (assuming 8.2 is next) on the iPad 4 though, not taking the risk!

I upgraded from an iPad 3 to an iPad Air to an iPad Air 2. I sold the previous model to help pay for the newer one. If I had the iPad 4, I probably wouldn't upgrade since it is still an absolute beast and since it isn't 64-bit, it actually performs better with the 1GB RAM than the iPad Air 1.
The only reason I got the iPad Air 2 is because I got such a good deal on the iPad Air 1 that I wasn't losing any money when I sold it. The reason why I got the iPad Air 1 was because the iPad 3 was so crippled and underpowered. Hence if I had the iPad 4, I would probably stick with it skipping the Air 1 and 2.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now, and it still is on iOS 6 and runs great. I'm looking at upgrading to the iPad Air 2, especially with the sales going on at Staples. But the 4 runs phenomenally well still on iOS 6, the only handicaps are the RAM while browsing the internet and the constant need to have iOS 7+ for apps. It is still a great device even after 2 years.
