I upgraded from an iPhone X to an 11 Pro, and honestly, I regret it. I am very disappointed with the white balance of the photos, the screen has an almost sepia tint to it, and the bezels are indeed thicker than on the X. I'm on my 3rd 11 Pro-- first two were returned because of screen issues, and I'm strongly considering returning this one too. I've had iPhones since the iPhone 3G, and this is the first one that I regret getting.

Had a few people round for dinner and drinks tonight and there was a nice mix of devices to hand so did some testing, iPhone 11 pro, iPhone Xs (mine), Pixel 3, iPhone Xr and a couple we won't even mention :)

The camera was what interested me most and overall so a few images were taken on each and compared. Overall we all picked the pixel 3 as having the best camera. The 11 Pro was a solid 2nd.

To be fair, 99% of iPhone users are point and click, any of them would have taken pictures they would be happy with although the low light ones were clearly better on the 11 and Pixel 3.

So whilst the 11 offers a better than previous generation camera it really just pulled itself up to the same standard as the Pixel.

The only reason I was most interested in the camera as there is really nothing else warrants an upgrade. The spec bump makes no discernable difference if you are coming from the Xs.

Whilst I am in no rush to upgrade the 11 offers me no reason to even impulse buy.

I am actually more interested to see what Google do with the Pixel 4 and whether they can top the 3.

I’m struggling with upgrading my 6s plus to a 11
I wouldn’t have been able to hold out this long (I went from the 7 to the X because the X essentially had what I had wanted since my very first smart phone). Buuuuutttt.... if you’ve made it this far, hang in there for another 11 months. The 11 is minor improvements over the XS which is minor improvements over the X. Next year should bring the major improvements.

Apple held back alot with this update so that is why i will wait.
- 120 hz display
- 5g
- reverse wireless charging
- better edgeless display (the iPhone has too thick bezels)
- do something about the notch.
- better bluetooth codec support (since Apple removed the headphone jack, atleast give us all the codec support?)
- more ram (give us real multitasking)
- usb-c

These are easy things to implement in the iPhone 12 based on what Android phones have right now. So I am a bit worried that if I spend $1500 on an iPhone Pro 11 Max, i will buy a new phone the next year again.
Yes, all that, and also under-display TouchID and flat edges. IMO the rounded edges and notch are the two worst design decisions ever made on iPhone, so a model that did away with both would be too tempting to pass up - plus of course all the internal improvements.

Only thing that could make me do it is that we might be changing carriers, so there's a chance I could get a new one greatly reduced via promo, but other than that, no, even though I still have a 7. These iPhones just feel like stop-gaps. Refined, well-done stop gaps, but not the future.

The funny thing is that they upgrade the camera every year (except maybe original iPhone to 3G?), but most years, there's a lot more to talk about compared to the previous generation, so the camera upgrade takes more of a backseat. It's hyped as this huge thing this year because this year's models have so little different compared to last year's models.

The 11 pro max will last 4-5 years for someone who isn’t adamant about having the best camera at all times. The only thing it’s truly lacking is some extra ram for 3 years or so down the line.

In fairness, the camera improvement is pretty significant, maybe more so than the improvement between previous generations.

Anyway, last year the X to XS upgrade wasn’t much at all. Smart HDR for the camera (which ended up generating a lot of complains), but I guess the biggest draw was the Max size becoming available. Really didn’t seem like there was much to talk about last year.

Wait it out. A bigger battery and camera isn’t that impressive when you know a smaller notch, faster screen and a new design is going to happen.

I often chuckle at these posts wondering how many people never actually own an iPhone as they are always waiting until next year, it will be better..

I sold my X for a 11 pro.. Do not make the same mistake. If I knew that the reception with this "phone" is that horrible, I wouldn't have taken it for free.

Will keep my iphone x till 2020 iphones because i know there will be no changes in design like same notch and same 3 cameras, i think notchless iphone will come in year 2021 and will be called as iphone 12, next year will be iphone 11R, 11s pro & 11s pro max.

My iPhone X is running with flying colors with iOS 13. No need to give Apple more money. It takes great pictures at daylight and great pictures at night with a $3 dollars app called NeuralCam, has a great screen, music sounds astounding if you have good quality headphones, and it make phone calls as well. No need to fall into that trap.

Coming from X to the 11 pro max and now the 11 pro
If you walk in to pay regular price at Apple store, I wouldn’t recommended but if you find a mint one for a couple hundred off or more, go for it
Battery is insane, and camera of coz

Of course each iteration will be better but the 11 Pro is basically a X with a better camera. Not enough.
Not really but if the X does everything you need...
Had the X for 2 years, have now had the 11P for two weeks. It is more than just a better camera.

Who wouldn’t want a better daily driver unless they can’t afford it? That’s what most of these posts are: ‘I can’t afford the new iPhone - please make me feel better about it’
