Who's upset about the music app on iOS 9 has your use been affected because how complicated it is?

I have only used my music library 3 times this year because every time I open the app. It's too slow..Buggy...confusing and not simple.
Something that Steve Jobs WOULD not be happy about. It's so bad that I prefer the music app from my note 3.

I think the new app is incredibly unintuitive and needlessly complex. It was pretty decent before this but I hate using it now.

I don't like some of the look (art should not obscure the top bar) but I like the function, eg it's very easy for me to Add To Up Next now. It could use some cleaning up in parts, and I strongly think the bottom menu should have remained Artist/Album/Song/Genre etc. If Apple Music was a separate app though, I know there would be threads about that saying that's not convenient enough. Of course, I don't use it, so...

Because the iTunes team makes the Music app now, not the core (Jony Ive) iOS team.

I don't use the music app at all but a family member of mine does. We share an Apple ID just for iTunes and App Store just for purchases and stuff, separate iCloud and iMessage stuff. Anyway, I was getting suggestions on my lock screen to listen to their music when I don't even use the music app. Now transitioning to my own Apple ID to be used for everything. Probably possible to turn this off but I'd rather use just one account for everything for simplicity's sake anyway.

Apple has a lot of work to do. However that's not unusual this early on in the life of a new service from Apple.

It doesn't bother me, especially since the other choices like the new bundle of Google Play Music / YouTube Red is fantastic.

For a mere $9.95 month (or $12.95 via iTunes after Apple takes its cut), I find it's better than the rest.

For the first time I went to another app. Some of the basic stuff I used to be able to do either doesn't exist or is to complicated to figure out and I don't feel like having to keep running internet searches to do things that were once so intuitive and natural. I really hope apple gets it together. They're all over the map.

I don't want Apple Music, I don't want Connect, I don't want Match, I don't want to see what I've bought that is in the cloud. I just want to put music on my phone and play it. For that the app is way too convoluted.

I don't use Apple Music but for playing my own music, it does the job.

I agree that it's a bit too busy and is perhaps overly complicated compared to the previous iterations, but one can say that for any technology as it goes forward. It works and is generally inoffensive to me, but that isn't to say that I'd be against them trying to clean up the UI a bit.

I haaaaate the new Music app and won't use it anymore. I'm not an Apple music subscriber but my entire music library is on my phone and I find it completely unintuitive and complicated compared with how it used to be. Based on another user's recommendation here I downloaded the Cesium app and use that exclusively for playing music now. It functions almost exactly like the old Music app used to. Well worth the couple bucks if you play music on your phone a lot, IMO.

Huh. Didn't know that, but that does explain a lot about how it looks.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the music app pre-iOS 9. Why Apple would decide to hand over it's design to the people who are responsible for one of the least liked pieces of Apple software....I dunno. I'm praying they reverse course on that.

It's absurd. I still have no idea how to use it, how to put songs on random without flipping up the bottom slider and hitting the play button 3 times if the music app is open in the background.

Very strange, cluttered, un-intuitive design.

It's too busy IMO but I'm not upset over it. Most of the time when I'm using it I'm in the car and using the car's interface instead.

Not me... Sure it took a while to get used to it, but I'm happy with it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the previous music player UI design was set up so that if you were driving, walking or in the midst of doing things you could advance to the next track or change to another song while driving or on the go.

The current design is designed for someone who is sitting at a school waiting for their parents to pick them up from volleyball practice, lots of fiddly, very tiny UI elements and text.

It needs a lot of involvement and interaction to change a track, go back a track or two, or rewind a track. And god help you if your vision isn't so great. Even on a 6 Plus the elements are far too small.

They used a lot of space to show you the record cover which is fine but having the tune name, record name, etc in a tiny thin band at the bottom with a rewind/fast-forward slider that you need to try and control with your pinky - it's ludicrous since it's right next to the UI at the bottom which is more for Apple Music. Ack!

I downloaded Marvis to try and combat some of these issues and it helps some but it has its own quirks.

The design is definitely not praiseworthy. I pity those who don't use Apple Music at all: before you had these customisable(!) tabs at the bottom, now you just have two. What really bothers me is that my iPhone gets warm when music is playing/streaming and becomes a bit sluggish while using other apps. Music is not lightweight and on track to become the mobile iTunes, even though it does half as much.

That's right. I tend to forget that since its release was only a few weeks before iOS 9.

In any event, before that, I saw nothing wrong with the music app. The whole thing is subtraction by addition IMO.

Well, it was a few months before iOS 9 (although perhaps not the first iOS 9 beta).

Can Cesium play from sources other than the music library, say if I wanted all of my music in Dropbox or OneDrive?

which is saying something because its not that good either but A LOT better than music app.

Or we are getting old and don't understand anymore what teenagers do so easily. It's something I have come to notice, I guess.
