I plan on buying a MBP and will wait for the free iPod. I plan on selling the free printer right away then giving the iPod as a gift for father's day.

To what degree do they confirm your currently enrolled status? And does highschool count for anything or just college?

Just a suggestion... For all of those who are waiting, I believe MacMall offered the same iPod promo last year. Although the education discount is more than the MacMall discount, MacMall doesn't charge tax. This could save you a decent amount of money.

Also, MacMall has the free printer promo too, AND you can get Parallels and Norton (not that you need it) for free after rebates.

I'm not trying to argue with you, i'm sure in every thread you see on Macrumors they will say if you need it now, buy it now. I've been waiting about 6 months for this update and another 3 weeks is nothing as my setup works fine.

The LOGICAL thing to do if you've got a setup that works is to wait for the iPod and sell it, if you want to save money. I also don't have the extra money for the iPod, just happened to know someone looking to buy one of them and they were willing to wait to get it for ~25% off.

I am in the same boat. Since I waited for the imac refresh for last 4-5 months, I guess I can wait for another couple of weeks to get free (kind a) ipod along with student discount and don't forget to pick up your free printer ;)

If I am buying this online, what they need to see in order to get student discount? I was just playing on apple.ca and only thing they ask is the province and the institution. Where, I have to put my student info etc.

Thanks, Penduboy

If you buy now and Apple starts the "Back to School" promo with 2 weeks, they should honor it with your purchase. They might make it a return/gift card/repurchase transaction to give you a new receipt?

Any rebate could take a while!

there's currently a problem with paying out rebates in NZ...i have been waiting AGES to get my printer and iPod rebates. some technical problem...crikey it's lucky i'm not desperate for the cash. so don't expect any rebate to happen as fast as they tell you it will!

Is there some annual printer deal too? When I bought my MacBook Pro from the Apple store about 8 months ago, I got a student discount, free printer (or $100 off a more expensive printer), and a free iPod Touch. Pretty nice deal! I'm just curious if anyone knows if that deal is a usual thing. I hadn't seen it until last year!

The printer deal is always available.

Quick question and probably a dumb one, I graduated about a year ago would I still be able to get student discount? Just curious lol
