Here is an example from my old iPhone 4 32GB:

Modern Combat 3 + FIFA 12 + Real Racing 2 + Dungeon Hunter 3 + Bastion + Zenonia 4 + GTA 3 + GTA chinatown wars + 5-6 more indie games = 8-9 GB installed.

That leaves you with 29 GB - 9 Gb = 20 GB of huge amounts of free space for videos and photos taken from the phone, music, and the rest of the stuff.

Now samsung is the top leasing smartphone OEM right now, and promised a 32 and 64 GB variant which will never materialize in Canada as samsung has refused to launch 32 GB vatiant.

Now, 9.5 GB of user available space - 9 GB = 500 MB left.

Since google made it impossible to move an app to SD card, how can one fix this now?

On the other hand Apple keeps releasing higher ipad and iphone storage variants (128GB ipad means 128 GB iPhone and ipod will come).

HTC smartened up and finally abolished that paltry 16 GB space for good this time.

Nand isn't too expensive, this makes me really sad as i was considering the S4 to be possible contender for my money. I like that 13 MP camera :(.

People need to stop referring to "we" here. It's silly.

As for the 32GB, don't forget that it is actually 28GB or something like that. I do agree, 32GB should be the lowest capacity. I had never filled any 32GB iOS device that I have owned until recently. I am finding the same true for the iPad where I don't even store music or many photos. I have maxed out my iPhone a few times (music + pictures).

I would like to jump on a 64GB for the price of 32GB with my next upgrade. I don't know if we'll see that but the 16GB drives can go to the new iPod for all I care.

Also, the S4 looks great but don't let the advertisement of a 13 MP camera fool you, it could be crap. 13 MP in such a small sensor may not hold up well image wise.

Unlimited data with iTunes Match means I don't need to have 32gb iPhones as a minimum. Never get past 10gb used.

The 'we' need dosnt ring true

AFAIK. Google never did stop the ability to move applications to SD card.

I have a ZTE Blade running JellyBean and the feature works as intended.

I've got a feeling it's all to do with the way that Samsung have implemented their partitions.

Exclude me from the "we" too. :p

So i suppose a google edition ROM could solve this....

My apologies for the "we". It will be fixed.

But iTunes match doesn't solve my issue with an S4, and apps being unable to use SD card.

It's a price thing.

I have NO PROBLEM if the minimal was 32 gb at the same price as the 16 gb models.

However if that is reflected in the price then I don't see the point. That's just giving us one less option.

Also if the SD card can be properly used it makes it less of a concern.

I'm using a 16 gb iPhone 4S right now and its perfect for me. And I'm sure many others are fine with that too. The biggest thing I have on the phone is 3 gb of photos that I keep backed up. I use an iPod for music and only game on my iPad.

Now if I did do gaming on my phone and kept all my music on it then I would have taken that into consideration and opted for a 32+ gb model.

ONLY offering a 16 gb model maybe a deal breaker for some and in that case it sucks but it is what it is. You'll just need to get a device that better suits your needs.

Some people I think could really benefit by removing stuff from their phones too. But that's besides the point.

HTC One comes with 32 GB and is offered at a lower rate from carriers here compared to S4.

On the other hand, NAND also doesn't cost way too much, and samsung makes it themselves anyway.

I cannot think of a reason why samsung would not simply throw away the 16 GB option and make 32GB available at the same price.

Sorry but there are plenty of us who couldnt care less about playing games on a phone. I leave that for my 60 inch TV and XBox 360. As for music and movies, those are on my iPod touch. I use maybe 2GB of storage on my phone.

I'm definitely interested to see how the Google Edition S4 handles SD cards.

Having all that internal storage with a stock formware (no bloat) + the ability to move app data to the SD card would be fantastic.

Yessir but two things: a) google music doesn't work in Canada, need a work around using a US credit card or a prepaid credit card, too much hassle and b) that still doesn't solve the app problem, the phone can run out of app space.

Yet there are plenty who do care, and the developers of these mobile games make decent money too.

And, i might as well use a blackberry if all i am doing is social stuff as that keyboard kills all virtual ones. If i shouldn't use my phone as a media device, why even bother spending $700 for a glorified text and browse machine?

I am amazed that people are against an improvement.

Agreed. The HTC One has spoilt me and i don't see myself owning any smartphone with less than 32GB of storage henceforth. Regardless of platform.

I'd like to say cloud services negate the need but iTunes Match and Google Play Music are equally finicky for me. So much so i've just reverted to the tried and true method of storing things locally. Hence i need my GBs

I have no problem with the current storage sizes. I just wished they offered more. I have a 8gb nexus 4 with 5.67gb of actual storage of which I have 3.52gb available. This is after all of my apps, utilities and customizations. I have found that 8gb in a phone is fine for me. Now, on my tablets and media players that's a different story. All that being said though, I'd like a 32gb Nexus 5.

Sounds like a lame excuse to justify the HTC One

HTC probably went with 32gb because they were too full of themselves to engineer an microSD card slot into their phone. And no, the excuse that it wouldn't fit isn't cutting it at all.

I've had a 64gb microSD card in my Android phones for awhile. Not an issue at all.

For people often traveling or simply living in not well covered areas / no LTE, cloud is not an option and more storage is highly appreciated...

Yes, 16GB is so little. I can't wait for 128GB on iPhone, I am filling my 64GB 5 all the time!

32 GB was 2009 standard, I wonder why we do not get 128 GB yet

I have every app I use on my gs4 and have 5gb of free space left and have a 64 GB SD card filled with about 12 GB of movies/pics and songs.

First time I ran the camera app it asked me to save to SD card and in the browser I set downloads to SD card so other then a few games that people never play who cares.

What does the op have to say about the 8gb and 16gb nexus devices? And those don't even have SD cards

Here are some numbers for you to crunch also. The gs3 has sold over 50 million phones and the gs4 is about to break 20 million and yet only 100k people bought modern combat 3 so trust me when I say this.you are the only person that is complaining about the space available on a Samsung device and you don't even own one.

I have a Samsung nexus and a gs3 sitting right next to me and I'm typing this on a gs4 and trust me I have never had a storage issue and that is with complete back up dumps done in clockwork to recover saved images that are over 4 GB each

This might relax the op of his Samsung hate thread,Here is a bunch of 32gb galaxy s4's and the 64gb is avail to pre order now!!!

Here is att 32gb
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/samsung/galaxy-s-4-32gb-black-mist.html#fbid=ptYxPCc1CJ8

Here is ebay selling a T mobile 32gb

here is an unlocked octa core 32gb that comes with an extra battery
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-M...1215129829?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item3cd1a290e5

I don't get the op's issue here as you can buy 32gb galaxy s4's and places are taking pre orders for the 64gb models.

Now he will say they are asking more then htc well guess what?its a better hardware phone and has a faster soc along with a bigger screen and a bigger and removable battery along having a way better camera that justifies its 50 dollar price hike.

now go make a new thread about how Samsung uses cheap plastic

This might be more of a problem on iOS devices. For some reason, app file sizes are HUGE compared to Android.
