Isn't much of the UI rendering in OSX now dependant on the GPU? All the transitions, transparencies, scaling etc. I know the UI on the latest MBA feels a lot snappier than it did on the older ones, and they all used pretty much the same CPU. 320M really gave the UI rendering speed a clear boost.

Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about this as long as Apple implements the newest revision on ULV SB where the GPU doesn't run at 50% of speed of the LV one.

I think the reason people are mad is because generally when an upgrade to a product line comes out, the parts become better, but in the case of the GPU it is the same or worse. I don't think people expect the Macbook Air to be running games on ultra at 60fps+, it is just kind of a let down of the performance of the Intel HD3000 has compared to the 320m.

Actually, a lot of this is probably due to the SSD. Graphics need to be loaded from disk before shown on screen.
