But what if I use iCloud? will the mac become lighter?

Well duhhh, clouds are even lighter than air aren't they? So of course they will lighten the load! I'm waiting for the iSpace upgrade though, since in Space everything is weightless!

I decided to open this MacPro up and see what the fuss is all about... op-J/k

Actually, the Octane2 and the Mac Pro are quite similar concerning their weight. But while the Mac Pro looks like a truck, the Octane2 has the looks of a hot rod. :D

Yeah, should have been cherry red! That would have rocked. Gotta get that outa it's box again one of these days. Have quite a lot of updating to do on that puppy and recon I might grab z couple of new sc drives. Could use a few bob of extra storage.

The Mac desktop lines are the best engineered and best designed of any personal computer out there! I have built a lot of PC's, using the best cases available and whilst some are nice, the Mac Pros are just on another level.

I love working on them, I live the attention to detail, I love all the moving parts inside them, the latch that unlocks the side panel and HDD sleds, the aluminum shrouds over the CPUs the slots for the GPUs, the clip that secures the expansion covers, how it has secured thumb screws of easy of use and strength.

Mac Pros are like making love to a beautiful woman.

It's only until you get inside that you really understand how wonderful they are!:D

Bahahahaha. Really tho.

Toni Suave'

(Shipping my 5,1 well packed [no factory box] is a cool $100)

Because Aluminum was the best available material that is better than the plastic and stamped crap PCs come with. I don't mind the weight. It is very solid, and very well built.
Yes I don´t mind neither being heavy... I really feel also that I am carrying a computer, and the color, lines etc... I mean the design itseft it´s just wonderful.
I am very pleased with my MacBook and having that hard case gives extra protection to the screen when you open it and close it.

This 3 1/2 year old thread was discussing the 40 lb Mac Pro not a 2 lb MacBook.

Talking to a three year old thread and about the wrong product. I think MacRumors Newbies are just adorable!!!

That said, I find that the bigger impediment to their convenience is the sharp-ass handles. Those of you who remember G3s and G4s will recall that, despite their not-dissimilar weight, they were pretty comfy to lug around.

G4 MDDs are even a pound or two heavier than the cMPs. But the denser construction and smooth plastic handles make them rather simply to lug around.

If Apple had just decided to take the opportunity of 2.5" HDDs and the death of optical media to simply shrink down the tower rather than redesign the entire thing, I would have loved them to go back to the G4-sized design. Still a great-looking machine (although its internal layout can't hold a candle to the Pros, despite being really good for their day.)

Well I look at it this way if you bought one new for like 3,000 dollars at least it felt like you were getting your money's worth hehe

Well, it's easy to judge why: The machine has a thick, high-quality, aluminum casing; it contains large heatsinks, a RAM cage and two RAM riser boards, a giant motherboard, optical drive cage+optical drive, hefty PSU, a frontal fan assembly that weighs like 2-3 pounds, etc. Great, solid machines! They are packed with awesomeness.

Those are cute little kittens but do you realise how big a full grown Maine Coon is?
Our coons are big enough to scare the neighbor's small dogs - at 8-9 kilos they outweigh the dogs. (The small one is 8 kilos, the other is 9 kilos.) They're not huge, but they're bigger than most small dogs.

Love them, and mainly for their personalities and temperament. Very devoted and friendly - I've heard coons described as "dogs that purr".

Do be aware that "garbage in, garbage out" applies - you'll be bringing in a lot of cat food, and scooping a lot of litter.

Apparently you've never seen an HP Z series workstation. Not saying the cMP was not a nice system but it didn't hold a monopoly on quality design.
