Why are webcams so crap?

Just like I don't need to see the Porsche Cayenne in every colour to think it's ugly.

Although, luckily for you, it is only made in ugly colors that complement its ugliness.

The iSight is great, but had one not came built into my Mac I would have not paid that much for a separate one. Back in the day (circa 2002) I bought a Compaq that came with an Intel webcam and it was pretty good (for the day).
